The Reset Bug has already been resolved after the recent patch. However, players are frustrated with how devs decided to roll out compensation packages.
Players have been plagued with a reset bug preventing them from getting Lost Ark gold and raid rewards since last December. Though the devs have resolved the glitch causing this problem, the compensation package released was nothing short of a “slap in the face.” Gamers are outraged as the recompense requires them to redo all their hard work to get the needed rewards.Â
The Reset Bug
A glitch was found last December wherein many players found that players were not able to do weekly and daily activities after the regular maintenance each week. Normally, players will have several activities, such as Una’s Tasks and Legion Raids, to get restarted to engage in these features again. However, the recent glitch prevented the reset from occurring, which locked out Lost Ark accounts from doing weekly grinds.
The extent of this problem was vast, as even weekly Adventure Islands were affected, which delayed players’ progression for certain upgrade materials and treasures. The bug was detrimental to concerned players since they rely on these activities to hone their gear and unlock more content. Adventurers who were grinding Brelshaza and KakulSaydon raids were prevented from receiving their rewards, which they needed to prepare for Akkan.
While it was never clarified what caused the bug, players could identify who would most likely get affected. Adventurers who were intentionally or accidentally disconnected from activities such as Guardian and Legion raids were more vulnerable to this issue. Fortunately, the problem has been resolved after the recent maintenance.
The “Compensation Package” Issue
While players are glad that the issue has been resolved, most were disappointed in how the devs decided to compensate the affected adventurers. The type of items the studios handed out and redeemed restrictions could have been more annoying to many gamers. Here is all the content of the “Compensation Package”:
- Guardian Raid Rest Bonus Ticket x21
- Una’s Task +1 x21
- Basic Life Energy Potion x60
- Stronghold Energy (S) x150
- 30-day Crystalline Aura
Several restrictions were placed on how to redeem this pack, which players found utterly unreasonable. The first condition is that you can only obtain these items with only your main character on your roster. On top of this, you can only redeem the compensation package until February 28.
Players’ main gripe with the package is that they are forced to grind out all the weeks they missed out on instead of just being provided with the loot. Though we can understand why devs don’t want to give out Legion Raid rewards, it is not the adventurers’ fault that they could not grind and clear specific features in the game. This situation becomes even more taxing when players only have until February 28 to finish these coupons with a 7-day expiration date.
Another main issue that gamers have is with the restrictions on who can redeem the package. The devs have set that only the main character in the roster can acquire the compensation. However, several players have already noted that it is not their mains that need these tickets but rather their alts. Most gamers already have their primary characters geared and ready for the next Legion raid, but their side avatars need more materials to get up to the required level.
Players have also noted that the compensation package covers only half of what is lost. The list of redeemable items is only suitable for the character, but more than the compensation is needed for those who couldn’t do weeklies even on their alts. Most adventurers have at least two or three alts that they are trying to gear up for end-game content, so the package must cover what many gamers will miss.
More Coming in the Following Weeks
It should be noted that the current packages rolled out are not the last ones. More compensation is coming in the following weeks, including Legion Raid tickets. It is unclear what other items will be offered to those players affected by the bug.
There is a chance that Smilegate and Amazon will provide more compensation to players that will almost equate, if not entirely, to what was lost during the reset bug. However, we will need to wait for further announcements to see if this is the case. In the meantime, players should go out in Arkesia and enjoy various events to receive items that can’t be bought with Lost Ark gold, especially those from the Witcher x LA event.
