Boris Johnson, The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, congratulated Shehbaz Sharif who is the new Prime Minister of Pakistan and says that he is looking forward to working with him on the topic of global challenges. Ministry issued the statement which was “PM Johnson looked forward to continuing working together including in addressing global challenges”.
Another statement issued by the ministry is “he also recalled their meeting in 2016 during his visit to Pakistan and the discussion held on several shared interests including girl’s education, health, economics and trade relations”. The spokesperson of Pakistan’s foreign affairs ministry told that Johnson even wrote a letter to sharif mentioning that both their countries are enjoying deep ties supported by strong links.
Quoting the letter, the spokesperson further added that PM Johnson even conveyed his best wishes to PM Shehbaz and also to the people of Pakistan wishing them on their 75th anniversary and he hopes to meet PM Sharif as soon as possible.
On 11th April 2022, Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif took an oath to become the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan, hours after getting elected by the National Assembly of the country. On the day the President Arif Avli was ill, because of this the Prime Minister was administered the oath by Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani.
Contrary to this issue, last week UK PM Johnson came to India and said that Narendra Modi will be talking to him regarding the issues with Pakistan and China and hopes that the UK will soon reveal their position, that where they take stand between these countries.
