Yuzvendra Chahal shared his thoughts on the ever-hotly debated India-Pakistan match.
Both campaigns are getting prepared for the historic T-20 World Cup 2022 between India and Pakistan in Australia. The excitement surrounding an India vs. Pakistan encounter is arguably unmatched by any other cricket match. For the T20 World Cup 2022, both India and Pakistan will start their tournaments in Australia, just like they did for the T20 World Cup 2021.
Though much has been said and written about the Indo-Pak conflict before the match on October 23, players’ perspectives on this match continue to differ. One of the best spinners in the game right now, Yuzvendra Chahal, has emphasised the value of not obsessing over this match.
Yuzvendra Chahal on India-Pakistan Match
Chahal was asked about his eagerness for the game against Pakistan. According to the wrist spinner, for the players, it’s just another game. He claims that if you’ve previously faced an opponent, you’re less worried about doing so again.
The media and the internet have created a lot of excitement before the match versus Pakistan. However, for cricketers like them, this is just another game, and if they feel like the pressure is getting to be too high, they should just leave, Chahal said.
Chahal also addressed the frenzy around social media. He claimed that while being fairly active online, he does not allow himself to be affected by what is said. In response to the social media hype around the game, he noted that Pakistan is a good team, but the emphasis is still completely on their performance.
Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Singh Chahal commented in his previous interview on October 9 that Indian captain Rohit Sharma gives them complete freedom to play according to their style and there is no pressure on them. At the same time, he mentioned that Team India will reach the T20 World Cup semi-finals in 2022.
Chahal On Jadeja
In that interview, Chahal said that no one could fill the gap left by all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. He added that Jadeja was out of the team for the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia from October 16 due to injury. However, in Chahal’s opinion, Axar Patel has shown that he can do better.
Chahal previously said that their preparation is good because they have been playing cricket for a long time and if the bowling is going well, then their confidence will also be increased.
He also commented on the Australian ground and said when the ground is bigger, you can fly more and it is not easy for the batsmen as they are not able to play shots freely. However, for the spinner, there is little advantage in the large field, he added.
Chahal is the only wrist-spinner in India’s T20 World Cup squad. Hence, his skills guarantee a spot in the playing XI against Pakistan.
