PM Modi, In a virtual address today, PM Narendra Modi encouraged millions of BJP workers to strengthen their campaigning efforts at the booth level in preparation for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections.
He urged them to win with a majority and criticized the “revdi culture” of distributing freebies. The Prime Minister also criticized Congress on this issue, claiming that their guarantees are meaningless as their warranty has already expired.
Promises made by Congress in upcoming elections
The Congress has promised several guarantees for the Karnataka polls, including providing 200 units of free power to every household, distributing 10 kg of rice for free to each member of below-poverty-line households (Anna Bhagya), offering monthly assistance of Rs. 2,000 to female heads of households (Gruha Lakshmi), and providing monthly financial support of Rs. 3,000 for graduates and Rs. 1,500 for diploma holders (aged 18-25) for two years if the party comes to power.
PM Modi expressed concern that this kind of culture is causing states to accumulate debt and emphasized that this is not a sustainable way to run the country or its governments.
PM Modi criticized other political parties
During his address to BJP workers in Karnataka, PM Modi accused certain political parties of using unethical means like bribery, coercion, and deception to gain power and promote corruption. He said the political parties are trying every possible move- “saam, daam, dand, bhed” to procure power.
He expressed concern that these parties are not focused on the long-term future of Karnataka or its youth and women.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the state for a two-day tour during which he will hold public meetings and roadshows. He emphasized the importance of the BJP winning with a full majority to ensure all-around development and asset creation for families over the next several decades.
BJP’s Plan for India’s Development
He also stressed the need for the government to think about the future and not just focus on day-to-day needs. The BJP is not taking shortcuts but is committed to developing India through investments in physical, digital, and social infrastructure.
PM Modi also discussed the government’s efforts to address temporary challenges by providing free ration and vaccinations to the poor but cautioned against a culture of dependency.
The Prime Minister urged young people to be cautious of political parties that offer freebies and to think about their future and that of future generations. He further criticized the Congress party for promoting corruption and nepotism in Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan and said that their promises were meaningless.
The BJP leaders, including the Chief Minister and former Chief Minister, participated in the interaction from different parts of the state. The PM claimed that the BJP’s approach differed from other parties as it was focused on developing India in the next 25 years rather than just grabbing power.
He encouraged the BJP workers to ask people for votes for a stable and majority BJP government in Karnataka and highlighted the benefits of having a “double engine government.” The PM stated that his government was working towards making India prosperous and developed in the next 25 years, with Karnataka playing a significant role in this journey.
The Prime Minister’s speech to BJP supporters was a component of the party’s attempt to enhance their efforts for the Assembly elections on May 10th. Earlier this week, the party announced that approximately 5 million workers from 58,112 booths would be participating in the Prime Minister’s “virtual rally”.
