15 Nov, Indonesia – The annual G20-Summit began today in Bali, with world leaders due to debate difficulties prompted by the Covid-19 epidemic and, more recently, Russia’s war in Ukraine during the next two days. Indonesian President Joko Widodo greeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the summit site before the summit’s ceremonial beginning.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged for a return to the road of “ceasefire and dialogue” to settle the Ukraine crisis and condemned the promotion of any limitations on energy supplies, despite the West’s call to boycott Russian oil and gas. Climate change, the Covid-19 epidemic, the developments in Ukraine, and the worldwide challenges related to them, according to Modi, have wreaked havoc on the world, and global supply systems are in “ruins.”
About India’s future G-20 chairmanship, Modi stated that when the group’s leaders assemble in the “sacred land of Buddha and Gandhi,” they will “all agree to transmit a powerful message of peace to the globe.” During a session on food and energy security, the prime minister emphasized the global ramifications, stating that there is a crisis of necessities and significant items all over the globe and that the issue for impoverished residents in every country is “more serious” today.
We are connected by shared heritage and culture, Modi tells Indian diaspora in Bali
“Recovering together makes you stronger. Indonesian President @jokowi greets Prime Minister @narendramodi ahead of the G20 Bali Summit. Today’s @g20org Summit program includes detailed discussions on modern global concerns such as food, energy security, and health. “Arindam Bagchi, a spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, stated in a tweet.
Following the conference in Indonesia, India will assume the Group 20 chairmanships for a year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend a G20 working session on “Health” today and address the Indian community in Bali, said the Ministry of External Affairs.
In a video posted on Twitter, MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi stated, “PM has also met in his session intervention. We have session 2 later in the afternoon, which is on health. He will then address the Indian community.”
He further stated that another session on digital transformation would be held tomorrow and that PM Modi, along with the other leaders, will visit Mangroove Forest.
US President Joe Biden today rushed up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to shake his hand before they took their seats next to each other at the ongoing G20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia.
In a video, Prime Minister Modi looks to have missed President Biden approaching him at first but then swiftly turns around for a handshake and an embrace. As President Biden takes his seat, Prime Minister Modi says something to him that makes him giggle. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval of India are watching and will subsequently take seats directly behind the two leaders.
President Biden is also seen interacting with other foreign leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, who is standing close.
Earlier at the G20 Summit, Prime Minister Modi cited World War II to urge that the world must find a way to return to the road of diplomacy in Ukraine. “The Second Planet War wrecked devastation on the world during the last century. Following that, the leaders made a concerted effort to follow the road of peace. It’s now our turn, “He stated.
India is ready to assume the chair of the G20, a strong group that accounts for 85% of global GDP and 75% of commerce, and will host the summit next year. “I am convinced that when the G20 gathers next year in the sacred land of Buddha and Gandhi, we will all agree to send a powerful message of peace to the global world,” Prime Minister Modi stated.
