PM Modi Launching The 6G Test Bed.

The 6G Vision document was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who also stated that India is quickly advancing to the next stage of the digital revolution.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the 6G research and development test bed and suggested that the nation will soon see its implementation.

The government anticipates that this will encourage innovation, capacity growth, and speedier technology adoption throughout the nation.

He also officially launched the new International Telecommunication Union (ITU) regional office and innovation center. The PM unveiled the Bharat 6G Vision Paper and launched the 6G R&D Test Bed during the ceremony.

ITU is the specialized communications and information technology agency of the United Nations (ICTs). ITU consists of a network of field offices, regional offices, and area offices, with its main office in Geneva.

India and the ITU agreed to a Host Country Agreement for the opening of an Area Office, in March 2022.

The Technology Innovation Group on 6G (TIG-6G), which was established in November 2021 with members representing different Departments/Ministries, telecom service providers, academia, standardization bodies, development and research organizations, and industry, has created the Bharat 6G Vision Document.

The group’s goal is to create a roadmap and action plans for 6G in India.

PM Modi said, “Today India is taking steps to move ahead on the journey of the digital revolution” when announcing the 6G test bed. The country with the quickest 5G rollout in India. He expressed his happiness at the news that Delhi would host the ITU’s World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly during the opening ceremony.

Additionally, PM Modi stated that India would establish 100 5G laboratories in the upcoming years. The Bharat 6G vision statement and 6G test bed, he continued, would work together to foster an atmosphere for creativity and develop faster technologies in the nation. He also mentioned the launch of 5G in India.

To decrease cases of pointless digging and damage, the Prime Minister also introduced the smartphone application “Call Before You Dig” (CBuD).

What is a 6G testbed?

The 6G Testbed would provide organizations, including corporations, start-ups, academic institutions, and MSMEs, among others, with a platform for testing and evaluating innovative ICT technologies.

The Bharat 6G Vision Document and the 6G Testbed will also foster an environment that fosters creativity, increases capacity, and hastens the adoption of technology across the country.

What is CBuD?

The Call Before You Dig (CBuD) app is a piece of technology made to prevent unexpected excavation that results in millions of crores of rupees in annual damage to underlying assets like optical fiber cables.

It will link excavators and asset owners to notify them of upcoming excavations throughout the nation while maintaining the security of underlying assets. It does this via SMS/Email notifications and click-to-call capability.

PM Modi intentions:

According to PM Modi, the only intention behind this action is to lessen the financial losses that result from carrying out infrastructure projects.

To safeguard the nation’s underlying public infrastructure, the Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics and the Department of Telecommunications in Gujarat have created a smartphone application.

PM emphasized that the favorable policy climate in India is what has caused the quick development. “India offers two key benefits: scale and trust.” We cannot distribute technology throughout the globe without scale and trust. India’s efforts in this regard are being discussed throughout the world, he claimed.
