India’s most popular conversational topic is unemployment. It is not just about the money; unemployment also deprives a person of prestige, a means of subsistence, motivation, and a lot more, leading to poverty.
The Periodic Labour Force Survey states that unemployment is a situation in which a person is willing to work but is unable to find employment. People who are self-employed, taking a temporary hiatus from their jobs, and not actively looking for work are not regarded as unemployed.
A PLFS poll indicates that the jobless rate nearly doubled following COVID-19. The Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) Report states that although the labour force participation rate has grown in both urban and rural areas since September 2022, the situation is still worse than it has ever been.
WHAT IS PM ROJGAR MELA?
It was initiated by the Indian government on October 22, 2022. It is intended for candidates who have earned degrees and are vying for positions in various government agencies. The government has invited the youth to apply for various positions in 38 different ministries through PM Rojgar Mela.
The government has announced that about 10 lakh applicants who match the required educational qualifications and age requirements for the position will be hired. The age range for the youth’s eligibility is 18 to 29. The National Skill Development Corporation made the choice under the direction of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
The Union Public Service Commission, Staff Selection Commission, India Post, Railway Recruitment Board, and other significant organisations will lead the recruitment effort. Group A and B (Gazetted) roles, Group B (non-Gazetted) posts, and Group C posts will all be up for recruitment.
Once the various departments have issued their notifications, candidates may apply for any of these categories. Candidates can register on the websites of the various boards they are interested in until the PM Rozgar Yojna website is finished, which is most likely to happen in November 2022. Additionally, candidates should start reading the syllabus because they must pass a written exam before moving on to the next step in the process.
THE GOVERNMENT HAS TAKEN A FEW ACTIONS TO REDUCE UNEMPLOYMENT:
It runs several social security programs, some of which include training and employment. In addition to PM Rojgar Mela, the government is working hard to create jobs both directly and indirectly because unemployment results in poverty, which has an adverse impact on one’s health, education, morale, and level of living.

India has a moderate rate of economic growth, a large population compared to the available jobs and resources, a heavy reliance on technology rather than manual labour, and a lack of dedicated assistance and money to address unemployment.
One of the main issues that needs to be addressed in order to prevent anarchy in the system and the nation is unemployment.
