A total of 13 individuals have been apprehended, resulting in the seizure of 80 stolen mobile phones, six stolen motorcycles, two cars, two pistols, three live cartridges, and approximately 300 grams of heroin.
In a significant achievement, the Mohali police’s CIA staff has successfully dismantled a network comprising drug smugglers and snatchers, responsible for more than 100 snatching incidents within the district. This breakthrough operation led to the apprehension of 13 individuals belonging to three distinct gangs, among them an associate closely affiliated with the notorious gangster Dilpreet Singh Baba.
The CIA team, headed by SP (Investigation) Amandeep Singh Brar, DSP Gursher Singh, and Inspector Shiv Kumar, successfully apprehended three gangs involved in criminal activities. Two of these gangs were primarily involved in snatching, while the third gang was responsible for supplying heroin to one of the other gangs.
The arrest occurred subsequent to an investigation into three separate FIRs filed in Mohali.
In relation to a case under the Arms Act and NDPS Act, which was filed at the Sadar Kharar police station on June 3, the initial breakthrough came when the CIA team successfully apprehended five individuals associated with a notorious drug peddlers’ gang.
The individuals have been recognized as Davinder Singh, also known as Baba, aged 31, hailing from Dahirpur village in Rupnagar. Ajay Kumar, aged 35, comes from Garniawali village in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. Sandeep Singh, known as Banksar, aged 32, resides in Uttam Nagar, Khanna, Ludhiana. Jaskaranjit Singh, alias Vishal, aged 20, belongs to Punia village in Banga, SBS Nagar. Lastly, Avtar Ram, also known as Sunny, aged 29, is from Punia village, SBS Nagar.
The individuals were discovered with 300 grams of heroin, along with two .32-caliber pistols and three loaded cartridges. Law enforcement seized their vehicles, which included a Toyota Fortuner and a Maruti Suzuki Swift.
According to the police, Davinder, an individual associated with gangster Dilpreet Singh Baba, is implicated in nine criminal cases, including charges related to the NDPS Act, attempted murder, assault, and the Arms Act. Sandeep is also entangled in seven criminal cases registered under the NDPS Act and the Arms Act. Jaskaranjit has previously been involved in two cases involving rape and the Arms Act.
Following an investigation into a theft and snatching case reported at the Balongi station on June 3, the apprehension of drug peddlers was succeeded by the arrest of four individuals involved in snatching.
Four individuals have been identified as the accused in the case: Baljinder Singh, also known as Prince, aged 32, hailing from Nilon Kalan village in Ludhiana; Jasveer Singh, alias Jass, aged 20, from Mansa; Rajan Kumar, alias Jangu, aged 31, from Jaipur; and Nitin, aged 35, residing in Phase 1, Mohali. It is worth noting that all four accused were living in a rented accommodation located in Balongi.
In relation to a snatching case filed on May 30 at the City Kharar police station, law enforcement authorities have apprehended an additional four individuals belonging to a different gang involved in snatchings.
The individuals from Morinda, Rupnagar who were identified are as follows: Harmeet Singh, also known as Gola, aged 30; Roshan Singh, also known as Sonu, aged 20; Jashnpreet Singh, also known as Bhatti, aged 21; and Harminder Singh, aged 25.
In 2021, Harmeet found himself wanted in a snatching case registered at Majri, Mohali. According to the police, this gang had an additional illicit operation: selling the snatched mobile phones to migrant laborers in order to make fast cash.
