At around 7 pm, she went to the labour room, but the power supply went off.
Due to a power outage at Polasara Community Health Centre, a woman gave birth under the light of a mobile torch.
There was also tension among family members and doctors. But acting with courage, doctors conducted the delivery with all safety measures.
Dr Pragyan Prathama of the centre said, “Without power supply, the delivery could not have been delayed. So, I had to conduct the delivery under a cellphone torch as there was no generator or inverter facility available at the CHC.”
The matter received lot of applauses when the videos went viral on social media.
Power Shortage Problems and Inquiry
The increase in electricity demand is because of the coal crisis.
Along with this, for the past few days, there is a power shortage at health centers in the city. As the video went viral on social media, Ganjam CDMO Umashankar Mishra ordered an inquiry into the matter, and the required action will be taken against the responsible people.
