After landing in Las Vegas for the Grammy Awards, BTS member Jeon Jungkook aka Jungkook tested Covid-19 positive, according to the group’s management agency, Big Hit Music.
Jungkook tested negative for Covid-19 in South Korea, but took tests in the United States after experiencing throat soreness, according to the band’s management company, Big Hit Music. Jungkook’s involvement in the forthcoming schedule would be determined in time by local Covid-19 regulations, according to the agency.
In the statement, released by the agency on Tuesday, it is mentioned that, BTS member Jungkook is being diagnosed with Covid-19. After a PCR test in Korea came out negative, Jungkook left for the United States on Sunday, March 27 (KST) in preparation for his Grammy Awards performance.
He noticed a slight soreness in his throat after arriving in Las Vegas and took a rapid PCR test (Covid-19 molecular PCR test) and a regular PCR test (Covid-19 quantitative PCR test) on Sunday, March 27. (PT).
“Both tests came back positive while Jungkook was under self-quarantine as a proactive measure, and Jungkook was confirmed with Covid-19 on Monday, March 28.” (PT). Jungkook is currently undergoing self-quarantine and treatment in accordance with US health officials’ requirements. He has no symptoms other than a minor sore throat, and we will closely monitor his health during the quarantine, the statement continued.
According to the statement, Jungkook’s participation in the later schedule in the United States will be governed by local rules on Covid-19. While we are in ongoing discussions with the awards organizer.

The self-isolation time for confirmed COVID-19 patients in Korea is seven days, however since the beginning of this year, the quarantine period in the United States has been reduced to five days. The quarantine period is 5 days, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), but after that, one must wear a mask for an additional 5 days. Isolation is also suggested but not required.
BTS members RM, Suga, Jin, and V flew to the United States on Monday, while Jungkook flew out earlier. J-Hope, who tested positive as well, is being quarantined in Seoul. The members are set to perform live shows in April at Las Vegas, although it’s unclear whether all seven will be on stage at the same time.
ARMY took to social media to give their well wishes to Jungkook, wishing them a swift recovery.
Later in the day on Tuesday, Jungkook updated fans on his well-being with a small audio statement on his Instagram Story. He mentioned in a very hoarse voice that, he is alright. It is nothing much. With that, recently, J-Hope also updated Armys about his well being on Weverse.
BTS’s Suga, RM, and Jin all tested positive for the virus in December. Jimin had Appendix in January 2021 while recovering from COVID-19. V tested positive for the illness in February.
For their English track “Butter,” BTS has been nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of best pop duo/group performance in 2022. The group is set to perform at the Recording Academy’s forthcoming celebration in the United States. Last year, BTS received a nomination for their song Dynamite in the pop duo/group performance category.
Following their Grammy appearance, the band will perform four concerts at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, titled Permission to Dance On Stage. On 8th April, 9th April, 15th April, and 16th April, they will perform live.
The 2022 Grammy Awards will be telecast on CBS and will be available live and on-demand on Paramount+ on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at 8 p.m. ET (4th April, 5.30 a.m. IST), hosted by The Daily Show‘s Trevor Noah.
