The Naval Fleet, which includes over 60 ships and submarines and 55 aircraft, will be reviewed by the President Ram Nath Kovind, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
In an awe-inspiring and magnificent ceremony, the President will review the Naval fleet on February 21 in Vishakhapatnam. This will be the twelfth fleet review. It will be particularly significant because it will take place on the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, commemorated across the country as ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.’
The President’s Yacht, the INS Sumitra, is a nationally manufactured Naval Offshore Patrol Vessel that will lead the Presidential Column. The Ashoka Emblem will be displayed on the yacht’s (INS Sumitra) side, and the President’s Standard will be flown on her mast. Following a Ceremonial Guard of Honour and a 21-gun salute, the President embarked on the Presidential Yacht INS Sumitra, which will sail through a convoy of 44 ships anchored off the coast of Visakhapatnam.
The President will also review the Indian Naval Air Arm in a stunning fly-past by many helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. A movable column of warships and submarines will pass by the Presidential Yacht during the last phase of the review.
The Indian Navy’s most recent acquisitions will also be on exhibit. In addition, a parade of sails, a search and rescue demonstration at sea, aerobatics by Hawk aircraft, and water para jumps by the elite Marine Commandos (MARCOS) will be performed on the waterfront. In the presence of Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh and Minister of State for Communication Shri Devusinh J Chauhan, the Hon’ble President will issue a commemorative stamp as well as a unique First Day Cover.
During the day, the ships in port will be ceremonially decked in full splendor, with various navy flags. On the 19th and 20th of February, they will be illuminated from sunset to midnight, and the people of Visakhapatnam will watch them from the beachfront.
