India, which Prime Minister Modi referred to as the “mother of democracy,” is strong because of its variety, he said in his speech to the nation at the Red Fort.
“Congratulations to my beloved compatriots on the historic occasion of their 75th anniversary of freedom. Many thanks and congratulations to everyone! It is encouraging to see our tricolor being flown with pride, honor, and glory by Indians who fervently love their nation, not just in India but also around the world, according to Prime Minister Modi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged 130 crore people, or “Team India,” to unite in order to move the country ahead and ensure that it becomes a developed country in the following 25 years in his speech for the 76th Independence Day at the Red Fort. For the “amrit kaal,” Prime Minister Modi outlined five resolutions, or the “panch pran“: to work toward a “viksit Bharat” (developed India), get rid of any remnants of colonialism, maintain our roots, ensure unity in diversity, and perform citizen obligations. He emphasized that the two major problems in India were dynastic politics and corruption.
PM Modi said it was a momentous day for India as it embarked on a new path with a new resolve as he opened his speech. He emphasized that India is the “mother of democracy,” and that its strength resides in its diversity.
During a 21-gun salute by the homegrown ATAGS howitzer gun, PM Modi unfurled the national flag prior to giving his speech at the Red Fort. Helicopters then dropped flower petals all over the place in response. PM Modi had earlier that day paid a respects visit at Rajghat.
Prime Minister Modi paid tributes to Mangal Pandey, Bhagat Singh and Chandrashekhar Azad and countless such revolutionaries who shook the foundations of British rule.
He added that the Republic of India is grateful to the women who shown the strength of its women’s power, including Rani Lakshmibai, Jhalkari Bai, Durga Bhabhi, Rani Gaidinliu, Rani Chennamma, and Begum Hazrat Mahal.
The Prime Minister also discussed the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” being held at the Centre, saying that it is a chance to remember the contributions made by those who gave their lives to serving the nation during the previous 75 years.
