Deep Sidhu, a Punjabi actor who made headlines during the farmers’ strike, died in a traffic accident near Delhi on Tuesday after his vehicle, a white Scorpio, collided with a stalled truck.
The collision occurred on the Western Peripheral Expressway, commonly known as the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway, near Kharkhoda, Haryana.
Deep Sidhu was travelling from Delhi to Bathinda with actor and friend Reena Rai. Reena Rai escaped the collision and is not in danger, according to Sonipat SP Rahul Sharma. He was transferred to a hospital but was declared dead.
Deep Sidhu’s family received condolences from Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
CM Channi stated in a tweet: “Deeply saddened to learn about the unfortunate demise of renowned actor and social activist, #DeepSidhu. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family and fans”.
