‘Radhe Shyam’, a multi lingual movie starred by Prabhas and Pooja Hegde was released on Friday This multilingual love story is set in Europe in the 1970s is directed by Radha Krishna Kumar. Bhushan Kumar, Vamsi, and Pramod co-produced the movie. It is available in five languages: Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. Earlier, the film was due to premiere in theaters on January 14. However, it was postponed due to an increase in Covid-19 cases and uncertainty over the performance of cinemas during the epidemic. In addition to Prabhas and Puja, the film also stars Sachin Khedekar, Priyadarshi Pulikonda, Bhagyashree, Jagapathi Babu, Murali Sharma, Kunaal Roy Kapoor, Riddhi Kumar, Sasha Chettri, and Sathyan. Actor Amitabh Bachchan narrated the Hindi version of the film.
Radhe Shyam is considered a budget luxury intended to sweep us up. Parts of the film are close to achieving that. With its large sections filmed in Europe, it is full of stunning images and stunning viewing effects. But not much of what the film offers brings the sensory
elevation it aims to be. The film was shot on a large scale in various parts of Europe, lending it its unparalleled appeal. It gives a good taste to the view. The music of Mithoon, Amaal Mallik, and Manan Bharaj blends well with the background of the story. The recording of some of the songs is reminiscent of beautiful music videos made a few years ago. VFX deserves applause, and it adds to the visual quality of the film.
A movie with no soul?
In the movie, Vikram Aditya (played by Prabhas), a well-known palm reader, despite his best efforts, falls in love with Dr. Prerana (played by Pooja Hegde). Although he predicts her long and bright future, it seems like the future has something in its store, or does it?
The vague chemistry between Pooja and Prabhas is a barrier to this love story, and sadly, their characters are not written with enough depth, clarity, or imagination. This also has an impact on their drama, although the characters try to play their parts convincingly. The screen is full of meaningless moments, characters not using the story, and a few unexplained situations that leave you wondering how and why.
The climax of Radhe Shyam allows the star to enter hero mode – though not fighting the villain here – and this is where Prabhas seems to be more at home than anywhere else in the film. The main male character of Radhe Shyam is a forecaster who is described in one of the first sequences as “the Einstein of palmistry” and, later as, “Nostradamus of India”. Should you not be properly impressed by these monikers, the man in question, Vikramaditya, dares to read Indira Gandhi’s palm and predict Emergency.
The film spoils a lot of talented actors, making them just stand nearby and say one or two lines. Sachin Khedekar at least gets something to do. Jayaram, Jagapathi Babu, and Priyadarshi were destroyed. The worst offender is Murali Sharma, and he is tied up with a bad wig. Kunaal Roy Kapur and Bhagyashree also have little to do and are probably bound to have a familiar face to the Hindi audience.
Well, this was very poor for Prabhas’ fans after a masterpiece like Baahubali. The film has received mixed reactions from Twitter. While some fans are ‘surprised’ after watching the film, others call it ‘unbearable.’ Radhe Shyam is a disappointing love story that is hard to fall in love with. When the devil is in the details, he is everywhere in the film, which proves that the line between the blockbuster and the lackluster is incorrectly thin.
