India’s next and last match of the Super 12 Stage against Zimbabwe is at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), on November 6, Sunday, where rain has disrupted most of the matches.
Conditions to be Fulfilled by India to Qualify for the Semis
When India plays with Zimbabwe at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, they will have one last chance to guarantee their place in the T20 World Cup semifinals. If Pakistan defeats Bangladesh at the Adelaide Oval in a game that will be played the same day but before the match in Melbourne. India will need to defeat Zimbabwe, to secure a spot for themselves in the Semi-finals.Â
A game against South Africa that was called off due to the so-called rain has given Zimbabwe a remote chance to advance to the semifinals. However, Zimbabwe has been a pleasant surprise in this Super 12 stage, recording an incredible victory of just one run over Pakistan. Even though there is a very small chance that they would finish in the top two in Group 2, India cannot brush them aside.Â
What does the Weather Forecast say?
Rain has caused the largest disruptions to Super 12 games in Melbourne, especially in Group 1. But the rain factor cannot be neglected by teams of Group 2. On the other hand, Sunday’s outlook appears to be more promising. Showers may occur during the day, according to the Bureau of Meteorology of the Australian government, but the likelihood of rain occurring after 7 p.m. local time, when India’s match is scheduled to start, is very low.
“A little cloudy. Showers are possible in the northern and northeastern suburbs, with a medium (50%) risk of occurring and a small (30%) possibility elsewhere, most likely in the afternoon and evening. Thunderstorms are possible throughout the afternoon and evening in the northeast. Light winds in the morning shifting to northerly wind speeds of 15 to 20 km/h before returning to light in the afternoon, “on its website, states the prediction.
Matches Canceled due to Rain
India’s exciting first match versus arch-rival Pakistan was their final game at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) during this tournament. In front of a sold-out crowd at the gigantic stadium, India managed to seize victory from the jaws of defeat. Due to rain, the following games of other teams at the MCG had to be determined using the DLS system, and the following three games in a row were all canceled. Rain was predicted to interfere with India’s game against Pakistan as well, but it held off on that day. Rohit Sharma’s team will be hoping that the same thing happens, on Sunday.
India’s last match against Bangladesh was also interrupted by rain, but the match resumed as soon as the rain stopped. And, the target was revised to 151 by the end of the 16th over. India, however, won that match. But, in their match of the Super 12 Stage, India has to win against Zimbabwe, also not underestimating Zimbabwe.Â
