Ajay Maken said that he has waited for a long to end Rajasthan political crises, but now the water has gone overhead as the congress central leadership has not taken any steps on the ‘indiscipline’ done by three senior Rajasthan congress leaders just before the congress presidents election.
As they say “The Calm Before the Storm”, is again shown to be valid beyond a reasonable doubt. This phrase correctly describes the Congress party and its Rajasthan leadership. Ajay Maken, the AICC general secretary and congress state in charge of Rajasthan resigned over the political negligence of the congress central leadership.
Ajay Maken said that he has waited for a long to end Rajasthan political crises, but now the water has gone overhead as the congress central leadership has not taken any steps on the ‘indiscipline’ done by three senior Rajasthan congress leaders just before the congress presidents election. Ajay Maken was also unhappy that how the party has treated the Rajasthan ministers and has not taken any action over the ‘show-cause notice’ served to the perpetuates of parallel meetings.
He said that the MLAs’ actions were directed against the Congress party and also against congress party lines. He waited for a week to resign as asked by Congress president Mallikarjuna Kharge. But, as no action was taken, Ajay Maken ultimately resigned. This is also a major issue because of the upcoming state assembly elections in Gujarat this year and in Rajasthan in 2024. Rahul Gandhi is set to come to Rajasthan in December in the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra, which makes the best political crises in Rajasthan.
What’s going on in Rajasthan congress
This step by Ajay Maken was inevitable as a chore was going on in the congress party, especially in Rajasthan. The whole trouble goes back to the September 25 congress legislature party meeting organized by CM Ashok Gehlot’s loyalist ministers. Ajay Maken and the current Congress party chief Mallikarjuna Kharge were present in Jaipur to hold a meeting of the congress MLAs days before Ashok Gehlot was due to file nomination for the congress president election.
When Ajay Maken and Mallikarjuna Kharge asked the congress MLAs to come for a meeting to discuss the further course of actions after CM Ashok Gehlot resigned and take charge as Congress president. But, things went wrong as about over 80 MLAs gathered at one of the minister’s residences and collectively submitted their resignations from the Rajasthan state assembly to speaker C.P. Joshi.
What made the MLAs take such a bold step
The congress MLAs who are loyal to CM Ashok Gehlot felt that CM Ashok Gehlot was fired to resign from the CM post and Sachin Pilot was to be made CM without having consulted with them. According to sources, it was quoted by some MLAs that Ashok Gehlot was sidelined from the state congress.
The congress MLAs had a belief that Gehlot was not happy to accept the congress presidency and he was lured into a trap by some senior congress leaders who are sympathetic to Sachin Pilot. Ajay Maken and Mallikarjuna Kharge went straight back to Delhi to report to the congress president Mrs. Sonia Gandhi.
Why Ashok Gehlot was having trouble becoming Congress National President
CM Ashok Gehlot has not given any statement till now, regarding the action of his ministers and loyal MLAs. Some of the inner workers of congress had said that Ashok Gehlot is almost 72 years and he has no plan to continue doing politics. He is happy in Rajasthan and he wants to set some examples of good governance in Rajasthan as this could be his last tenure if congress doesn’t regain its power in State assembly elections scheduled for 2024.
Ashok Gehlot was upset with Sachin Pilot, who allegedly organized a coup against his own party government. He also said that whoever (Sachin Pilot) contacted BJP leader and Home Minister Amit Shah to topple his(Ashok Gehlot’s) government should not be given any position in the party and also asked to take strict actions against the perpetrators.
Rajasthan CM Post: one pomegranate and a hundred ailing persons (Ek anar sau bimar)
After the Rajasthan state assembly elections held in 2018, there are many contenders to be the next CM of Rajasthan. Sachin Pilot wants to become CM as he claims that he solely worked hard to take back power in Rajasthan and therefore should be rewarded. On the other hand, there are several leaders in the Rajasthan congress who see themselves as alternatives to Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot.
While the ruling party BJP, which is in the opposition, is all overconfident that the BJP will vanquish congress in the coming state assembly elections. There are as many as half a dozen contenders in the CM race, ironically before one year of elections.
Wait and Watch जाने क्या दिख जाए
As Rajasthan’s tourism department campaign slogan reads “ JANE KYA DIKH JAYE”,(जाने क्या दिख जाए) is being revenant in this time as we are going to see many ups and downs in Rajasthan. Many believe that Ashok Gehlot will be CM for the remaining tenure while on the contrary, Sachin Pilot’s sympathizers are confident he (Sachin pilot) will be made CM soon.
People are also speculating that the BJP can take a jibe at this opportunity to topple the government, but it is very much unlikely as assembly elections are due next year. Hence, here we wait for each day as anything can happen in Rajasthan.
