Baba Re-Release:
Two days earlier, on 10th December, just like a pre-birthday celebration to Superstar Rajinikanth and his fans, the movie Baba was re-released in theatres. The movie, directed by Suresh Krishna, with production, story & screenplay by Rajinikanth himself, hit the screen in the year 2002 with Fantasy as its genre. The musical composition of this film was done by A. R. Rahmaan.
Though Baba was considered a flop by then, it made a remarkable impact on the Kollywood Idol- Rajinikhant’s career. The movie was plotted around an atheist who was provided with some divine powers by the sudden turn of events and helped people selflessly.
Rajinikanth, the protagonist, was initially resolved to renunciate the materialistic world but after seeing the power politics in the state, he would change his mind. It was then people took it as a hint and started their assumptions about Rajinikanth’s drastic entry into politics as there were a lot of references to his real-life situations and his beliefs let alone his spiritual lifestyle. Despite the film creating waves & speculations on Rajnikant’s entry into politics, it didn’t make much at the box office in 2002.
But, two decades later, after technical re-mastering of the movie with some digital interpretations, changes in some scenes and a fresh perception, the movie was re-released two days prior to the actor’s 72nd birthday, marking the movie’s twentieth-year completion. Earlier, in November, the actor shared posts regarding dubbing scenes for the movie and it went viral as well.
Despite the initial setback due to Mandous Cyclone, the movie made a massive hit in theatres and his fans took to Twitter and Instagram, sharing their joyous FDFS experiences.
Like every year, the 12th of December was not meant only for Rajinikanth and his fans as birthday messages were pouring into the actor’s Twitter handle, especially from celebrities. Actor Dhanush, Director Nelson, Music Director Anirudh, Actor Dulquer Salmaan and actor Raghava Lawrence were some of them who shared their birthday wishes and mentioned Superstar Rajinikanth as Happy birthday Thalaivaa.
