Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to inaugurate the newly built Greenfield airport in Rajkot, the airport will be known as Rajkot International Airport. The Airport Authority of India ( AAI) has said in their statement that the Hirasar Greenfield airport will be in front of India on July 27, and all the arrangements & preparations have been made for the inaugural ceremony. Airport Director Diganta Borah said that, the decision for naming the airport as Rajkot International Airport was done via Video conference with AAI chairman Sanjeev Kumar.
In the arrival and departure terminals of the Airport, creative signages have been put up. All the security and Operation Management personnel are been taken care of. The arrival area of the Airport is decorated and paintings are made to showcase the rich culture and heritage of the place. After the inauguration of the Airport, PM Modi will also conduct a road show from Rajkot airport to Race Course ground and there he will be addressing a rally too.
Importance of the Rajkot International Airport:
Gujarat is the 4th largest country in India, with the growing population of the state. The rising flow of air traffic and congestion in the region made the Airports Authority of India (AAI) undertake the construction of a new Greenfield Airport in Rajkot. The Airport will be in operational mode by the end of the year. The Project is worth a cost of Rs 1,405 core in 2,534 acres. This Airport is envisioned to be a transportation hub for people traveling abroad; it will have the capacity of handling 1800 passengers during peak hours.
Gujarat’s Rajkot International Airport will be the longest runway in the state and the largest Airport in the state. This airport will benefit the entire Saurashtra Region and it is located approximately 30 km from Rajkot City and on the Rajkot Ahmedabad Highway (NH-47). It has been designated with the longest runway in the state with a length of 3.5 Km.
With the commencement of the newly constructed Greenfield airport, it will reduce the time and costs associated with logistics for various industries in the region; it will also open new employment opportunities for the people of the state. At present there are two Greenfield airports in Gujarat; one is in Hirasar, the other one in Dholera, along with 10 other airports in the state.
PM Modi to visit Gandhinagar, after the Rajkot Airport Inauguration:
After Inaugurating the New Rajkot Airport and holding a road show, he will proceed to Gandhinagar and there he will be holding a meeting with the state cabinet minister, including Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, at the circuit house. Party officials including the state present will also be attending the meeting. On July 28, PM Modi scheduled his plan to inaugurate the 3-day Semicon Summit at Mahatma Mandir. The Prime Minister will likely announce the various projects and developments for the state of Gujarat during his visit.
