The release of “RRR,” which was postponed because of the pandemic, has set a global film industry record of over Rs 1000 crore. The cast of the film includes Ram Charan, Jr., NTR, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Olivia Morris, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, and Alison. This is Rajamouli’s third back-to-back blockbuster after “Baahubali: The Beginning” and its 2017 spin-off “Baahubali: The Conclusion,” which is one of the highest-earning Indian movies ever.
In the midst of RRR’s rising buzz and advancements, Salman Khan, during the IIFA press conference, proceeded to commend the lead threesome of the film and went on to add that Southern movies will quite often do incredibly well in Bollywood, yet not the opposite way around. Ram Charan, who has been garnering a tonne of recognition for his depiction of Alluri Seetharama Raju in the film, addressed Salman’s comment as to why Bollywood films are not as appreciated in the south while films like “RRR” and “Pushpa” have broken records in the north.
He said, “I want a director from Hindi cinema to make a pan-India film that caters to even the South. Salman (Khan) said, “I really love Ram, Rajamouli, and Tarak’s work, but why are our films not being appreciated in the South?” It is so candid and honest of him to say that, but I believe it is not Salman ji’s fault or some film’s fault, it is the writing; it is the director who has to transcend these boundaries of “Hamara movie idhar hi dekhenge, Hamara movie udhar hi dekhenge.” Every author ought to compose motion pictures like Vijayendra Prasad (RRR) or Rajamouli and express “believe in it.”
Ram later added that he wants to make an Indian film in which he would like talent from the Bollywood industry. And he suggests that if the directors can explore the talent from the South and make bigger films with bigger budgets, the result will be bigger numbers in the end.
