In a shocking revelation, the Goa police have cracked down on an elaborate interstate racket involving false rape cases, blackmail, and extortion. The perpetrators, two women hailing from Gujarat, alongside their male accomplice, operated by luring men through online platforms under the guise of escort services. They would later threaten their victims with trumped-up rape charges if they refused to comply with their monetary demands.
The modus operandi of the racket was cunningly simple. The accused women would initiate contact with potential clients online, enticing them with the promise of companionship and escort services. However, what followed was a nefarious twist – after establishing a connection, the women would visit the clients in Goa, only to then coerce them into paying exorbitant amounts of money. Failure to comply with their demands would result in a chilling threat: the threat of being framed in a false rape case.
The Goa police, on high alert after receiving complaints from several victims, managed to apprehend the two women and their male associate. Investigations revealed that the accused had previously managed to falsely implicate multiple men across various states in rape cases. In some instances, they had even succeeded in securing arrests, causing untold trauma and damage to the lives of innocent individuals.
The unraveling of this shocking scheme began when a man named Kiran Patel from Gujarat bravely came forward to report his ordeal to the Calangute police. Patel alleged that the two women, also natives of Gujarat but residing in Goa, had approached him under the pretext of forming a friendship. However, their sinister intentions soon came to light as they falsely accused him of rape and proceeded to extort a staggering sum of Rs 2 lakh from him.
In another case that rocked the investigation, the Colvale police detained a man from Gujarat suspected of sexually assaulting a 23-year-old woman at an Assonora resort. Further probing into this matter revealed that the accused women had lodged numerous similar complaints in different parts of the country, demonstrating the extent of their heinous activities.
An alarming twist in the tale emerged when it was discovered that both accused women had previously filed false rape complaints in other cities as well. In November, the two women had separately lodged rape complaints at different police stations, leading to the arrest of unsuspecting men. One incident led to the apprehension of a Gujarat-based businessman by the women’s police station in Panaji, while the second involved a woman approaching the Calangute police station to falsely accuse a Maharashtra-based businessman of rape.
However, a remarkable turn of events followed in the latter case. As police began their investigation, the complainant chose to retract her allegations against the accused. Strangely, negotiations soon commenced between the woman and the accused. In an utterly shocking display of manipulation, the woman demanded a staggering Rs 15 lakh from the accused in exchange for withdrawing the complaint. After heated negotiations, this sum was eventually reduced to Rs 2 lakh.
The Goa police, through their dedicated efforts, have managed to expose and dismantle this horrifying racket, bringing justice to the victims whose lives were irreparably damaged by these false accusations and extortion tactics. The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by online interactions and the need for stringent measures to curb such criminal activities. As the legal proceedings continue, it remains a testament to law enforcement’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and well-being of innocent citizens against malicious exploitation.
As the case unfolds, legal experts emphasize the importance of reinforcing cybersecurity measures and raising awareness about such online threats. This incident serves as a wake-up call for individuals to exercise caution when engaging with strangers on the internet and highlights the necessity of verifying the authenticity of online interactions. Authorities are working to ensure that justice is served to all victims involved and that stringent measures are put in place to prevent the recurrence of such heinous schemes. Ultimately, this crackdown underscores the significance of collaborative efforts between law enforcement, cybersecurity experts, and the general public to combat evolving forms of digital exploitation and manipulation.
