Clashes caused killing in Iran
Tehran: Nineteen individuals, including a Revolutionary Guards colonel, were killed on Friday during heavy weapon fights in the southeastern Iranian territory of Sistan-Baluchestan, state media revealed.
It was not promptly evident whether the conflicts were associated with thewave of unrest that has swept Iran since the death of Kurdish lady Mahsa Amini in morality police’s custody earlier this month.
“Nineteen individuals were killed and 20 harmed in the occurrence,”
regional governor Hossein Khiabani told the state broadcast.
Provincial intelligence officer of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Colonel Ali Mousavi was also killed,” state television added.
Destitution stricken Sistan-Baluchestan, which borders Afghanistan and Pakistan, is a flashpoint for conflicts with drug pirating posses, as well as dissidents from the Baluchi minority and Sunni Muslim extremist groups.
Prior on Friday, state media revealed that security forces had returned to shoot when a police headquarters in the commonplace capital Zahedan went under assault by shooters.
“Various police individuals, as well as passers-by, have been harmed in the trading of fire,” the state broadcaster said.
