Richa Chadha has slammed those who called Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh a traitor in a viral video. Arshdeep has come under fire since India’s Asia Cup defeat to Pakistan on Sunday.
After Pakistan defeated India in the Asia Cup last weekend, actor Richa Chadha came out in support of Indian spinner Arshdeep Singh. Arshdeep dropped Asif Ali’s catch in the 18th over, which could have changed the outcome of the game. Soon after, Arshdeep received harsh criticism on the internet, which was followed by the most recent incident, in which he was called a “traitor” by a man as he boarded the team bus.
In response to the video, Richa tweeted,
“Ugly, paunchy, loser who could be outrun by a snail has the audacity to badmouth a player.” F.O. is an armchair critic. Stop complaining about your life to others. Tussi koi lod na lo, Arshdeep paaji (Don’t worry). “I adore you.”
Arshdeep Singh is seen entering the bus in the video. Before he could board the bus, a person from behind the camera is heard yelling obscenities. They also referred to him as gaddar (traitor), a reference to India’s defeat.
Previously, Ayushmann Khurrana asked people to not blame the 23-year-old sprinter. Trying to see the bright side, he posted, “SKY is looking good.” Also, our starters Let us not be fickle and changeable. Even if they lose a close game, we should stick by them. And, for the love of God, stop trolling Arshdeep. He’s a great prospect. The rest of the tournament should be exciting. Praying for the next clash.”
Besides him, Swara Bhasker, Gul Panag and Pooja Bhatt, and dialogue writer-lyricist Varun Grover too stood up for Arshdeep amidst the online flak.
Swara Bhasker tweeted,
“We love you and we are proud of you @arshdeepsinghh! Stand strong! (yellow heart and national flag emojis).”
Gul Panag added,
“Truly tragic the way @arshdeepsinghh has been trolled. And it appears to be the handiwork of another IT cell. Don’t fall for it. P.S. The misfortune of devious propaganda is, that others can do it too. And it works like a dog whistle, with the intended recipients unaware.”
