‘Rocky aur Rani kii Prem Kahani’ movie starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt is all set to hit the theatres on July 28th. The film was reviewed by the Central Board of Film Certification before its release and CBFC advised to remove several words and dialogues that might hurt the sentiments of the people. According to the reports, the film mentioned West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and ‘Lok Sabha’ which was asked by CBFC to chopp out from the movie.
Apart from that, a dialogue scene from a lingerie shop was chopped off and the word bra was replaced with ‘item’. Not only this, many abusive words used multiple times in the movie have been censored, while the Rum brand ‘Old Monk’ was replaced by the name ‘Bold Monk’.
Karan Johar’s Director Return after 7 years
Karan Johar’s Rocky aur Rani kii Prem Kahani is the first directorial in seven years after Ae Dil hai Muskhil. This Film is co-produced by Dharma Production and Viacom18 studios which are Karan Johar’s Production house. Apart from Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, the film also stars Dharmendra ji, Jaya Bachan ji, and Shabana Azmi among others. Ranveer Singh in one of his interviews said that this movie gives a complete vibe of Karan Johar’s ‘Kabhi Kushi Kabhi ghum’ and he is again bringing back that Kind of cinema that we have grown up watching on the Big screen.
This film is the only first full-length film of Karan Johar which is shot entirely in India. He was working on his dream project Takht but unfortunately due to Covid restrictions he had to drop the project for now after years he stepped up again with his directorial ‘Rocky and Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’. The song ‘ Tum Jo Mile’ gained a lot of traction on social media after its release. This might be another Chartbuster after the success of ‘Ae Dil Hai Muskhil’.
Controversies over ‘ Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’
When the much-hyped movie poster was released to the public domain, there was speculation that the movie is similar to Alia Bhatt-Arjun Kapoor’s movie 2 States since both the movie showed love angle and war between two different families from 2 different states. But the source close to the project completely denied the speculation. It is said that the audience will experience a twist in the movie along with romance, comedy, and family drama. Even Shabana Azmi who is playing one of the important roles in the film rubbished the comparison between to 2 states.
Budget of ‘Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ film
The Film is made with a budget of Rs 160 crore and Rs 18 cr has been invested in print and publicity, the total cost of production ( CoP) of the movie contrary to baseless speculations in media is fixed at Rs 178 cr. The makers of the movie have already recovered 90% of their initial investment with Rs. 80cr. Coming from the Amazon Prime video digital rights and Rs 50cr from the sale of its music rights to Saregama. The makers have already collected Rs 160cr.
Although the makers have recovered most of the money before the release of the film, still the movie has to make really well on screen since its first directorial movie of Karan Johar after 7 years. It will completely depend upon the audience whether they will like the newly on-screen couple or not or did the acting of theirs has reached the expectations of the people or not. It’s a much-awaited movie since it guarantees the plot to be interesting for the audience, hopefully, it turns out to be good content.
