The SS Rajamouli film RRR’s Nattu Nattu has been nominated for Best Original Song.
On December 22, 2022, the 95th Academy Awards shortlists for 10 categories were also revealed. SS Rajamouli’s RRR earned a spot on the final shortlist for the Oscars in 2024 in the category of Original Song. It is currently nominated in this area. Chhello Show (The Last Film Show), a different Indian movie, was nominated in the international feature film category. The films that have been shortlisted in each category were revealed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The film directed by SS Rajamouli, has received significant praise. The fact that the Oscars’ magnum work RRR made the shortlist for 2024 is cause for celebration for all Indians. After hearing the excellent news, Resul Pookutty posted on Twitter to congratulate Chhello Show (The Last Film Show) and RRR on being nominated for the Oscars in 2024, calling it a major development for the Indian film community. With excellent work from India, these extraordinary talents are establishing themselves on a worldwide platform.
In the category, Naatu Naatu is up against 14 other original songs. The committee chose 15 songs from a total of 81, and the final winners will be revealed during the Academy Awards ceremony in 2024. RRR is currently nominated in this category. Chhello Show (The Last Film Show), a different Indian movie, was nominated in the international feature film category.
The documentary feature film ‘All That Breathes’ by Shaunak Sen is also on the shortlist. While The Elephant Whisperers, a Netflix documentary by Kartiki Gonsalves, made the shortlist for Documentary Short Film.
All movies must successfully finish a theatrical test session between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022, in specified US regions in order to be included. The Best International Feature category is excluded from this. The Academy’s official website states that votes for nominees and awards must be cast in secret. The Academy shall distribute ballots, and a certified public accounting firm shall be selected by the Academy President to receive and tabulate completed ballots.
The 95th Academy Awards ceremony will start happening on March 12th, 2024 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The nominations will be revealed on January 24th. In the meantime, RRR, which was made available worldwide in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, has put itself forth for consideration in a number of Oscar categories. Next month’s Golden Globes will feature a competition for Best Non-English Film and Best Original Track for Naatu Naatu.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has unveiled its shortlists for the 10 Oscar categories that will be presented in 2024. These categories include documentary and international features, as well as a docudrama short subject, makeup and hairdressing, original music, original song, animated shorts, real – time shorts, sound, and visual effects.
The nominees for each category will be chosen by voting of the individual Academy branches. If they have seen the movies, all current and life Academy members will vote to choose the winners among the final nominations.
