RRR on Day 17 of its release has joined the list of the Highest Indian grosser movies globally.
Filmmaker SS Rajamouli is making history yet again with his latest directorial RRR, which is doing exceptionally well at the box office. On the 17th day of its collection, RRR surpassed the Rs. 1000-crore mark. It is the third Indian film to achieve this feat on a global scale. The previous two films were Nitesh Tiwari’s Dangal, which grossed Rs. 2024 crore in 2016, and SS Rajamouli’s Bahubali: The Conclusion, which grossed Rs. 1810 crore in 2017.
A roaring success
RRR was released on the 25th of March. The film was distributed on over 7000 screens in over 60 countries and has since broken box office records.
Major competitions
For the previous two weeks, RRR has had a tremendous theatrical run. Despite stiff competition from the previous release The Kashmir Files, RRR managed to stay afloat and remains in the race for the title of most grossing film of 2022. This week, however, the film will compete in theaters with Thalapathy Vijay’s Beast and Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2 which also looks promising.
About the Plot
RRR is a fictional tale of two legendary revolutionaries, Alluri Seetharaman Raju (played by Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (played by Jr. NTR), and their journey far away from home. After their journey they return home to start fighting back against British colonialists in the 1920s.Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Ray Stevenson, Olivia Morris, and Alison Doody also feature in the film, which is packed with action. The screenplay was written by Vijayendra Prasad. The budget for the movie was a massive Rs. 450 crores.

Rana Daggubati took to Twitter to congratulate SS Rajamouli and the RRR team on hitting the Rs 1000 crore mark. Addressing him as captain in his tweet, Rana wrote, “ONE INDIA ONE CINEMA” was a wishful dream till one man came along and said this is what it looks like!! Captain, you’ve done it again!!? @ssrajamouli and team #RRR. I salute you!! @tarak9999 @AlwaysRamCharan.”
The makers of the film tweeted from the official handle of RRR about how the 1000 crore is a dream run for any movie in India. They thanked the cast and audience from all around the world for showering them and their efforts with love. To this Ajay Devgn replied with a tweet that read, “An RRRemarkable Milestone! Congratulations to the entire team of #RRR for a record-breaking run at the box office.#1000CroreRRR @ssrajamouli @tarak9999 @AlwaysRamCharan @aliaa08 @DVVMovies @RRRMovie @jayantilalgada @PenMovies”
Director and writer, Sanganabhatla Harish Shankar wrote on Twitter, “FANTABULOUS & “FANTASTIC. RRR is Mind-Blowing. Congratulations to the pride of Indian cinema @ssrajamouli. Hats off to @tarak9999 & @AlwaysRamCharan.”
Director Anil Ravipuda wrote for RRR on Twitter, “Master storyteller SS Rajamouli is all set to break every record at the box office.”
Jr. NTR, who plays the lead role in the film RRR, in a recent interview expressed the desire for a sequel to RRR. He said, “I’m pretty sure that if he doesn’t make (a sequel), you’re going to kill him for sure. He needs to make RRR 2, there needs to be a conclusion to this also! I was speaking to a journalist and I don’t know how but I said the RRR franchise. So, hopefully it becomes true. He should make RRR 2.”
