The prayers of the whole world are with the people of Ukraine tonight as they suffer an unprovoked and unjustified attack by Russian military forces.
According to a statement released by the White House, Biden said, President Putin has chosen a pre-planned war that would bring a devastating loss of life and human suffering.
Stating that the United States and its allies and allies would respond in a united and decisive manner, Biden said Russia alone was responsible for the death and destruction caused by this attack. He said the world would hold Russia accountable.
The US President has been further informed that he will now monitor the situation from the White House and will hold meetings with his G7 counterparts in the morning.
“Tomorrow, I will meet with my G7 counterparts in the morning and then speak to the American people to announce further consequences for this unnecessary act of aggression against the United States and our allies and allies, Ukraine and global peace and security. impose on Russia. ,”
he said.
Biden said the US would also coordinate with its NATO allies to ensure a strong, cohesive response that could deter any aggression against the coalition.
“Tonight, Jill (First Lady Jill Biden) and I are praying for the brave and proud people of Ukraine,”
he said.
Biden’s statement comes as Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced a special “military operation” to defend the separatist-held Donbas in eastern Ukraine, media reports said on Thursday.
Delivering an emergency address, Putin said the campaign had been launched to demilitarize Ukraine and warned other countries that any attempt to interfere with Russian action would have “consequences.”
Notably, Putin recognized the independence of Ukraine’s separate regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, after which Biden imposed sanctions on Russia and reaffirmed US support to Ukraine.
Putin also ordered the sending of Russian armed forces to different regions of Ukraine after his announcement.
