Russian President Vladimir Putin stated today that if Ukraine’s military surrendered, Moscow would be willing to discuss, and that the invading forces were seeking to liberate the country from “oppression.”
Moscow said that on the first day of the invasion of Ukraine, it had achieved all of its objectives and destroyed 83 land-based Ukrainian targets. Since the start of the day, Russia has launched 203 attacks on its western neighbour, according to official reports.
On Thursday, Ukrainian forces fought Russian invaders on three fronts after Moscow launched a land, sea, and air assault in the worst attack on a European state since World War II.
As NATO, EU, and G7 leaders condemned the invasion and promised to hold Moscow accountable, the attack prompted Western warnings of unprecedented consequences against Russia.
