Diplomatic Talks have taken off between Ukraine and Russia, says Ukrainian Advisor; United Nations General Assembly to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the Ukraine issue. Â
On Thursday, 24th February 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin had launched a scathing attack on the state of Ukraine. The Russian military has launched several attacks since that day on the land-based units of the Ukrainian army.
In the recent report, dozens of people were killed in missile blasts in the residential areas of the city of Kharkiv. But on the other hand, diplomatic talks have started between both the countries on the Belarussian border after the Ukrainian President had agreed to send a delegation on Sunday. Â
In this regard, The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) for a rare emergency meeting of the states to discuss the Russia- Ukraine Crisis. This happened after the U.S. and Albania had requested in the Security Council meeting on Sunday to convene an emergency meeting.
French UN Ambassador Nicolas De Rivière had mentioned to the press that there would be a meeting of the UNSC on Monday to discuss the humanitarian aid needed for the people of Ukraine. He further said that France and Mexico would further propose delivering more humanitarian assistance in the areas of need.   Â
According to a recent statement announced by the Ukrainian Health Ministry, the total death toll rose to 198, and 1000 people have been injured in the series of attacks since Thursday.
On Friday, Russian troops moved into the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, following which missiles were launched into residential buildings across the city. However, the Russian President had vouched those residential areas would not be attacked in an interview.Â
In this context, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko shared an image of a missile hitting a residential building. The Firefighter on the scene, Petro Prokopov, mentioned that six civilians were gravely injured from the two floors struck and ignited in the fire.
They managed to rescue the other 80 people in the apartments from the two floors. The Defence Ministry later confirmed that two people had died in the attack, and six people were injured. Â
Moving forward, in a video message given by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday outside his office in Kyiv, he had made it clear that Ukraine will not back down from a fight and will not put down its arms but would instead continue fighting and would defend their state. The people of the state have started leaving the country.
According to the reports given by the UN, more than 3,68,000 people have crossed the border to Poland. Poland has organized almost 70000 hospital beds for those wounded in the war. Evacuations of civilians from the war-torn areas have picked up the pace. The Indian government is also sending four ministers to aid the student evacuation from Ukraine. Â
