Shehzada, starring Kartik Aaryan, had a mediocre start on Friday. With a reported first-day collection of only 7 crores, it is said to be much behind Kartik’s career-best opener yet, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. According to Box Office India, the film was able to reach this figure due to the incentive of 1+1 tickets at the cinemas.

The movie directed by Rohit Dhawan and also stars Kriti Sanon was dropped in the theatres on 17th February and supposedly has turned out to be a huge disappointment for the Kartik Aryan Fans. According to some media estimates, the movie is expected to earn 7 crores on day one. This is in stark contrast to Kartik’s previous release, horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Taran Adarsh also shared data from all major multiplex chains.Â
Kartik
Shehzada marks Kartik’s return to the big screen after the box-office success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 by Anees Bazmee. This film is an official Hindi remake of the Telugu movie Ala Vaikunthapurramloo. The story revolves around a young man named Bantu, who has been despised and neglected by his father since he was a toddler. His world is turned around when he discovers he was switched at birth with the son of a millionaire. He is the biological son of a multimillionaire industrialist. The movie also stars Rajpal Yadav, Paresh Raval, Ronit Roy, Manisha Koirala and Sachin Khedekar.
Prior to its official launch, cinema industry analysts were concerned about Shehzada’s box office performance, believing that the filmmakers “made a mistake” by delaying the movie’s release by a week in order to prevent the havoc that Pathaan was causing at the theatres. According to the media reports, film producer and trade expert Girish Johar said, “As a producer or as anyone linked with the film, you do seek solo window. Ant-Man (and The Wasp: Quantumania) has created a worldwide sensation. It’s a Marvel film, and it marks the beginning of its fifth phase. Marvel fans in India are ecstatic, and I was surprised when the movie was rescheduled.”
Box office
The film did well considering the fact that audiences had other options besides Shehzada to choose from. The movie will need to show a significant turnaround on days 2 and 3 and a strong hold on Monday in order to have a chance at the box office, as there will be a new Hindi release next Friday in Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi’s Selfie.
