The announcement
The fund that he offered, consists of a greenshoe option of around 25 million dollars and is the first one that is an organized VC fund being made by an Asian sportsperson and the first by an Indian celebrity.
The 37-year-old cricketer, Shikhar Dhawan made this announcement while he was attending the annual Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) Finance Week.
The announcement was made by Shikhar Dhawan, his partners & team at the LP-GP Summit by 256 Network (A private, invite-only organization of asset allocators) to an audience congregating global financial market, where leaders from a wide array of backgrounds and had gathered at the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) Finance Week, to address the strategic macroeconomic, and the financial topics that shape global, regional and industry perspectives and themes for the coming years.
The fund
The fund will also have other prominent sporting personalities coming from all around the world and also representing multiple sports as their ambassadors.

Shikhar Dhawan
Born on December 5, 1985, in the city of New Delhi, Shikhar Dhawan is an Indian cricketer. He is a left-handed opening batsman and occasional captain of the Indian national cricket team.
Also, he captains Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League and plays for Delhi in first-class cricket.
Shikhar Dhawan made his One Day International debut against the Australian team, in October 2010 at Visakhapatnam, India.
