Shraddha Walker’s gruesome and bone-chilling murder has left all of us speechless, the case is all over the internet with bold headlines, and some news channels also presented it with a communal angle. But Shraddha walker wasn’t the only victim of such brutal killing by their partners.
This case brings back memories of past horrors; many more victims such as Anupama Gulati, Neetu Solanki, Naina Sahni, and Niranjani Pillai were also victims of brutal killings by their partners.

SHRADDHA WALKER
Shraddha, 27, was allegedly killed by her live-in partner Aftab Poonawala in May at the Delhi apartment they shared. He cut her body into 35 pieces and scattered the parts across the city. Aftab told the court that he had killed her in the heat of the moment.
THE ANUPAMA GULATI CASE
Dehradun, October 2010.
Rajesh Gulati, 37, a software engineer, killed his wife, Anupama Gulati after an argument. Gulati then cut her body into 70 pieces, using an electric saw, stuffed the parts into separate polythene bags and stored them in a freezer, and dumped the polythene bags one at a time at various locations across the outskirts of Dehradun. Rajesh Gulati is currently serving a life sentence.
THE TANDOOR MURDER CASE
New Delhi, July 1995.
Sushil Sharma, former youth congress leader shot his wife Naina Sahni over suspicions of an affair. Sharma then chopped her body parts and tried to dispose of her body by burning them in a tandoor on the roof of his friend’s restaurant. Sharma was sentenced to death and later commuted to a life term. Walked out of jail in December 2018 after Delhi high court ordered his release.
THE HANDA-PILLAI CASE
Sumit Handa, employed with a travel firm, allegedly killed his wife Niranjani Pillai, a South African lawyer following a fight on suspicion of infidelity. Police said Handa searched on the internet and relied on tv shows and chopped her body to dispose of it by setting the bags on fire in a forest in Haryana. Initially confident during interrogation, hands later broke down and confessed to the crime. The trial is still on and Handa is currently out on bail.
THE GIRL WITH THE PEACOCK TATTOO CASE
New Delhi, February 2011.
Delhi police found the body of a woman in a suitcase, outside the New Delhi railway station. For a fortnight the woman remained unidentified. Police only had one clue: the peacock tattoo on her abdomen. The girl was Neetu Solanki who was living with her partner Raju Gehlot in Delhi who had killed her and dumped her body at the railway station. The police failed to trace Raju for 8 years. In June 2019 was found admitted to a hospital, he had been living under the false name Rohan Dahiya. But by the time police reached the hospital Raju had passed away.
