MAMAMOO’s leader, Solar released her solo mini album, ‘: Face,’ on March 16 at 6 p.m. KST (2:30 p.m. IST), coupled with a music video for the title tune ‘HONEY’ Solar’s comeback is radically different from her previous solo album, ‘Spit it out,’ with her name on the credits as composer and lyricist for ‘HONEY.’
‘HONEY,’ co-written and composed by Solar, is a chill house track with rhythmic bass synth and a groovy hook that perfectly fits Solar’s breathy vocalizations. With this comeback, Solar takes on another new challenge: rapping. Solar’s alter personalities are introduced in this brazen self-love anthem.
We get to witness her several ‘faces,’ each marked by a different color. Solar’s first solo mini album, ‘ ‘容 : FACE,’ features five songs: ‘Raw,’ ‘Honey,’ ‘chap chap,’ ‘Big Booty,’ and ‘Zinggle Zinggle.’ Solar is listed as a composer on three tracks and as a lyricist on four others.
Solar had released a highlight medley for ‘容 : FACE,’ three concept photographs, an intriguing video titled ‘FACE MY PERSONA,’ and even a video on her personal YouTube channel ‘Solarsido’ as part of the teasers for the mini album. Solar’s official debut as a soloist in April 2020, was with her single ‘Spit it out’.
