Spotify, the most widely used music streaming platform, has introduced some new updates to enhance the experience of both the listeners and the artists.
Spotify is one of the most widely used music streaming platforms. Because of its user-friendly interface and on point algorithm, it is highly praised by all music lovers. Recently, the Swedish application introduced a lot of new features that will enhance the experience of the listeners and the artists.Â
Spotify will be adding some new charts to their system based on genre, location, artist etc. Additionally, users will also be able to block and unblock other Spotify users. Also, it has added a feature to Spotify Connect where there will be autoplay even after the song of your choice is done playing. We will talk about these features in detail further ahead in the article.Â
Spotify is a Swedish audio streaming and media services provider platform established in 2006. It is used by about 381 million users actively, out of which the number of paid subscribers is 172 million and counting.
The application is known for the sound quality it enables, the accessibility across the globe and the curated playlists, making it very easy for the users to discover new music similar to their taste.Â
Spotify record charts additionÂ
The music platform is known to be having a bunch of charts of its own to indicate how good is a song doing in what ways. It also enables the users to find new music similar to their taste or even experiment with their taste.
So far, the charts contained the ones that showed which top 50 songs or albums are trending weekly, globally and the ones that went viral. The charts were in the top 50 formats, and by default, the users were able to access the charts for their country and the global trends.Â
These charts would remain as they were; however, there will be more stats that would reflect how the songs or albums are doing based on their genre. It would also include the top 200 global songs, albums and artists that people love.
The users will also be able to access the detailed statistics of the songs. The stats would show the song’s peak positions, streaks, and song credits. This will give a lot of transparency to both the listeners and the artists as it will be accessible to both.Â
The artists could track how their song is doing and on what grounds are people loving them. For the listeners, it will be easier for them to see how their favourite artist is doing while also discovering some new talent.Â
For better accessibility, they also added city-wise recommendation, which is also accessible across 16 Indian cities, namely Pune, Patna, Lucknow, Mumbai, Ludhiana, Kolkata, Imphal, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Imphal, Delhi, Ernakulum, Chandigarh, Guwahati and Jaipur.Â
Other new featuresÂ
Along with the new charts, for better accessibility, Spotify has also enabled default autoplay for Spotify Connect, which cannot be disabled. Spotify Connect is the feature that allows the devices that support your mobile phone or laptop to play songs while being connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
The new autoplay feature will enable the devices to keep playing songs even after the song of your selection has ended. Initially, when this feature was rolled out, many users were confused and considered it to be a glitch. They then took it to the Spotify forum and discussed the problem, where they got the response from the Spotify team that it was not a bug but a feature.Â
Forbye, the platform also added a new block feature. The users will now be able to block other Spotify users or unblock them as per their wish. This will restrict the blocked user to access the other user’s listening activities or public playlists.
Earlier, the process required getting in touch with customer care to carry forth the activity. Now, the users themselves would be able to do the mentioned act through some easy steps.
