Sputnik V is the world’s first vaccine against coronavirus, registered in August 2020. It is a two-dose vaccine that targets the immune cells to prompt antibody production.

Sputnik V vaccine in Bengaluru might go to waste in thousands of numbers due to the enormous widespread immunization against Covid-19.
Sputnik V in India was created in Dr. Reddy’s laboratories. All the private hospitals, which had stocked this Russian-made Covid vaccine last year, expect a demand for the vaccine. Still, now none, it looks like there is no demand, and due to the vaccine’s expiry date, many unused vials might have to be thrown away; doctors aren’t sure yet.
There are over 1000 doses of unused Sputnik V vaccine with Maximum, which amounts up to Rs. 10 lakhs, but there are no takers for the same. Maximum is a company which offers vaccination at home.
Although Dr. Reddy’s firm issued a letter saying that the vials can be used post six months of its expiry, this is due to the vaccine’s expiry date’s extension from 6months to 12 months. However, the Karnataka drugs control department has requested the firm not to use expired vaccines.
