Rookie actress Kim Si Eun of ‘Next Sohee’ fame is expected to join the cast of ‘Squid Game 2’ as the major female lead, according to Korean media on June 26. It was revealed that the female lead in Squid Game 2 is going to be rookie actress Kim Si Eun. The trailer for the second season of ‘Squid Game’ was recently on June 18, 2024, as part of Tudum: A Global Fan Event.
Squid Game 2 reportedly cast Kim Si Eun as the show’s major female protagonist on June 22. In South Korea, Kim Si Eun is well-known for her role in Next Sohee. The rookie actress was named Best New Actress (Film) at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards for her outstanding performance in Next Sohee.
After the amount of attention Jung Ho Yeon earned for her performance in Squid Game, it is expected that Squid Game 2 will provide Kim Si Eun with an opportunity to present herself on a worldwide scale. Netflix had only disclosed the male cast, leaving people wondering if the show will feature any female characters. Park Gyu Young, who appeared in It’s Okay To Not Be Okay and Devil Judge was confirmed to join the cast as the only female actress on June 23. Season 2 will be led by Kim Si Eun, according to rumours, but this has yet to be formally verified.
