Almost two years after their last comeback, Stray Kids has been making headlines.
On June 2, Stray Kids released their third and eagerly awaited full-length studio album, (5-STAR), which includes the title single “S-Class” and a total of 12 tracks.
The thrilling news that Stray Kids would release their third album after more than two years following the release of their previous full-length album, NOEASY, in August 2021, was announced a few weeks ago.
5-STAR has already raised anticipation as fans continue to get hyped up about 5-STAR, which was released on Friday, June 2, as the music group releases concept art and teasers.
Record-Breaking Pre-Sale Orders
With (5-STAR) receiving the most pre-sale orders ever for a K-Pop album, the group had already been smashing records in terms of sales statistics before the album ever came out. As a matter of fact, it generated an astounding 5.13 million pre-orders before its release, making it the sole K-Pop album to do so.
Stray Kids not only surpassed their own first-day sales record but also quickly broke their prior best first-week sales record, accomplishing both of these feats on the same day as the album’s release. ‘MAXIDENT’ previously held the record for the most copies sold in a single week with over 2.1 million.
Around 3,421,700 copies of the album ‘MAXIDENT,’ which was published in October 2022, were sold. With their second standard collection, “NOEASY,” which was presented in August 2021 and transformed into “1,000,000 sales” (Million sales) after three years of debut, Stray Kids received a total deal of roughly 1,675,000 records.
Hanteo reports that on its first day of sales, (5-STAR) sold an astounding 2,392,666 physical copies. This number of first-day sales has only been surpassed by BTS and SEVENTEEN, with the latter holding the record when Seventeen’s “FML” earned 4,000,000 first-day physical sales earlier this year.
Fans Celebrate Stray Kids’ Success
On the IFPI’s list of the top 10 most popular musicians of 2022, which was topped by Taylor Swift, Stray Kids came in at No. 7, and Maxident was the year’s No. 6 most popular album..
The eight-member K-pop boy group has already raised the bar for its followers with the release of the increasingly fascinating album, 5-STAR, so news of its latest success fills them with pride. They celebrate over the news and continuously anticipate the thrilling record and all else it has in store for them.
Fans are anticipating yet another self-produced album, as 3RACHA (Changbin, BangChan, Han) identified themselves as the primary producers of 5-STAR together with Felix, Versachoi, Chang Kang-hae, etc., even though the album will be released in collaboration with JYP Entertainment and Republic Records.
JYP Entertainment used the 2017 reality programme of the same name to launch the South Korean boy band Stray Kids. Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N. are the other members of the group, which has eight total members. In October 2019, member Woojin, who was a part of the original nine-piece band, quit for unspecified personal reasons.
Recently, Stray Kids finished a run of performances in North America, which included their first-ever stadium shows in the United States. They also appeared on the late-night show Jimmy Kimmel Live to perform the song “Maniac” off their album “Oddinary”.
