Sunny Deol is a popular name in the Hindi film industry for his action sequences, dialogues and fierce look on screen. The ‘dhai kilo ka haath’ actor recently opened up about the recent Bollywood male actors working for six-pack abs. Bollywood movies nowadays show male actors with clean shaved chest with a bit of highlight that makes their chest look naturally shiny and attractive. However, Sunny Deol is totally against this concept.
In his upcoming film ‘Gadar 2‘ Sunny Deol will be seen in a few fighting sequences. The actor has always been comfortable in his own skin. The times he appeared in a movie shirtless, he was seen with body hair and chest hair.
Sunny Deol’s View on Male beauty Standards
The actor recently had an interview with Aaj Tak, where he opened up about his thoughts on male actors with six-pack abs. He replied that nowadays actors are more concerned about looks and body rather than focusing on acting. He feels that an actor’s main role in a movie is acting which is getting the least priority. The actor was always praised for his fighting skills and his dialogues, but still he never focused on building body or getting six-pack abs.
He even elaborated on his thoughts on men shaving their chest. Not only women but men too now have specific beauty standards. From Shah Rukh Khan in the song ‘Dard-e-disco’ for the film On Shanti Om to Ranveer Singh in ‘Ram- Leela, or ‘Rocky Rani ki Prem Kahani’, male actors are always shown with a six-pack abs and clean shaved chest that give out more ‘macho’ vibe to the audience. However Sunny Deol had given out a negative view in this regard. He said that seeing male actors shave their body for a film makes him feel sad and shy.
According to him, actors are in the industry to act and not to participate in bodybuilding. He also complained about the mindset the younger generation is getting out of this situation. “But because of that, we are getting talents with the mindset, ‘I have built a body, I can now become an actor, I am a dancer, I can be an actor.’”, said Sunny Deol.
Sunny Deol also opened up about what he said was a ‘bad practice’ of Hindi movies. He pointed out that filmmakers have now stopped creating original stories. They pick up movies from everywhere and create their own version of it and the audiences also enjoy them like ‘fast food’.
Sunny Deol’s son, Karan Deol debuted in the Bollywood industry with the movie ‘Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas‘ in the year 2019. He often shares his post workout photos on his social media. When Sunny Deol was asked about his views on his son’s workout, he said that going to gym or working out or creating a six-pack abs or even learning a new form of dance is optional and not a necessity for actors. As actors, knowing to act should be enough. He also confirmed that his son, Karan’s major focus is on acting and building a defined body is a passion that he likes to fulfill.
Sunny Deol was last seen in ‘Chup: Revenge of the Artist’ in 2022. Currently he is gearing up for his much- awaited movie ‘Gadar 2’ opposite Ameesha Patel that will hit the box office on August 11, 2024. The song ‘Ud Ja Kale Kawa’ from Gadar 2 has already been quite a hit song this year. His look, action skills and unique way of dialogue delivery is popular among the people even of this generation.
