The Taliban completed a year of rule since it captured Afghanistan last year after the departure of US troops. The acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi urged the world leaders and the international community to recognize the Taliban govt and cooperate with its leadership.
He said in a statement on Monday that everyone should take advantage of this opportunity and the international community should cooperate with Afghanistan and the new government, Khaama Press reported.
The statement was made by Muttaqi on August 15 at a ceremony held to celebrate the one-year rule and return of the Taliban.
Muttaqi in his statement said that Afghanistan is not a threat to any country including the United States which is part of their agreement agreed upon in the Doha agreement during the peace negotiations held in the Qatari capital, Khaama Press reported.
The second Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Salam Hanafi and spokesman of the Islamic Emirate Zabiullah Mujahid pointed out the achievements of their leadership for the Afghan people and the nation.
Over the past year, a huge number of people have fled the country to seek refuge in neighboring countries.
Since the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan last year, the human rights situation has worsened. Murders, demolition of temples, assault of women, and bomb blasts have become a regular affair.
Earlier hundreds of Afghan Sikhs and Hindus sought refuge in India and were granted e-visas.Â
Since the departure of US troops, human rights violations and violence has been taking place in an unprecedented manner.Â
At Least a staggering 59 percent of the population is now in need of some kind of humanitarian assistance with an increase of 6 million people according to UNAMA.
Closure of more than half of free media, threats against journalists, rising work restrictions, and evacuation of hundreds of journalists have taken place.
Taliban soon after seizing power ordered female news anchors to cover their faces while on-air.
Taliban dismissed all women from leadership posts in the civil service and prohibited girls in most provinces from attending secondary school.
