- Hospital-based to community-based: In his speech, Sir Keir Starmer said that the next Labour government will deliver an NHS that is there when you need it. This major change will focus on the promotion of community-based medicine with increased people participation.

The condition of the National Health Service is alarmingly dangerous for the entire United Kingdom. The premier healthcare institution in the nation is heavily understaffed, and the current staff suffers from long working hours along with huge waiting lists at hospitals. However, the Conservative party has made some progress in reducing the long waiting lists of hospitals, and they have considered managing the long waiting list one of the top five aims of the Sunak administration.

Administered by the Department of Health and Social Care, the National Health Service or NHS is the premier healthcare provider of the United Kingdom. Mostly driven by public funding alongside contributions from national insurance, it is one of the biggest healthcare services in the world. The National Health Service was created under the Attlee government of 1948, by the then minister of health Aneurin Bevan, and the core principles of the NHS are driven from the 1942 cross-party report. The NHS is the major healthcare provider in England, with services ranging from primary care and patient care to ophthalmology and dentistry. Private healthcare has continued largely alongside the NHS, funded by private insurance. The NHS works on the principle of ” free at the point of use”, which states that anyone legally registered with the NHS and a legal resident of the United Kingdom irrespective of nationality can avail of its services without payment with only minor exceptions.
