India-China clash in Arunachal’s Tawang received a reaction from the White House today. On Friday, Indian and Chinese troops engaged in combat in the Tawang area of Arunachal Pradesh, which resulted in minor injuries to people on both sides.
US Statement on India-China Clash
As stated by the White House, The Biden administration is pleased that both India-China rapidly terminated their dispute in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre remarked that the US is closely monitoring the situation and encourages all parties to use existing bilateral channels to discuss disputed boundaries during a media briefing on Tuesday (local time). “We are glad both sides have quickly disengaged from clashes. Minor injuries were sustained by servicemen from both sides during a confrontation between Indian and Chinese troops on Friday in the Tawang region of Arunachal Pradesh. The Indian soldiers stationed in the region of the face-off responded appropriately to the Chinese soldiers.
Chinese soldiers were injured in the conflict in greater numbers than Indian forces. In the Yangtse region of Arunachal’s Tawang sector on December 9, Indian Army soldiers bravely prevented the Chinese Army from crossing the Line of Actual Control (LAC), according to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Three units of the Indian Army from several infantry regiments engaged PLA troops in combat in Yangtse, in the Tawang area of Arunachal Pradesh, where they attempted to alter the status quo along the Line of Actual Control while the clash of India-China.
According to sources on the ground, when the Chinese attempted to unilaterally alter the status quo in the area last week, there were forces from three different battalions present, including the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, Jat regiment, and Sikh Light Infantry.
For the battle, the Chinese carried clubs, sticks, and other weapons. According to them, the Indian troops were likewise ready for the fight because they were aware of the enemy’s goals.
A fresh unit was taking over for an Indian Army unit that was leaving the area. However, the Chinese decided to engage in combat on a day when both troops were in the region. Every year, Chinese Army forces attempt to patrol their claimed line in these areas, which India denies. In Yangtse, close to the Holydip and Parikrama areas on the Line of Actual Control, the Chinese military has been acting aggressively about concerns.
Since a military confrontation in June 2020, China and India have been attempting to calm things down. The working mechanism for consultation and coordination on India-China border problems had its 25th meeting on October 14 with the two nations, and during it, both parties complimented the progress made in the removal of border soldiers.
The 16th India-China Corps Commander Level was held in July, and the two nations came to a four-point accord on how to resolve their territorial disputes.
China Urges India to Restrain Troops
Chinese Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin stated during a news conference on Tuesday that the situation is “largely stable” and requested India to uphold the letter of any relevant agreements that the two countries have signed.
Wang highlighted that both parties have kept lines of communication open concerning matters regarding the border through diplomatic and military channels.
The two leaders of the two nations struck a significant accord, Wang said. “We hope that India would meet China halfway, implement the consensus, rigorously adhere by the spirit of the relevant agreements inked by the two sides, and jointly safeguard peace and tranquilly in the border region.”
