Last week in St Mary’s English High School a tragedy took place. A 26-year-old teacher in Mumbai, died by getting stuck in the doors of lift. At 1 pm in the afternoon she was on sixth floor and wanted to land on second floor.

The moment she pressed the button to summon the lift, the lift opened. The next moment she walked in suddenly the doors closed on her and she got clutched by the iron doors of the lift.

As soon this happened the nearby staff rushed to rescue her. She was dragged out but because of this she did face severe injuries and was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital. 

Over there the doctors declared her as brought dead on the arrival. 

The name of the teacher was Jenel Fernandes. 

Getting stuck between general lift or metro doors does give a hard hit and physical agony. So many of us do this intentionally as playful act. 

But it is disheartening to share such news. The loss of a teacher, who was very young. That too just by an accident. When a teacher retires and if we are familiar with him or her. Then it gives a dent in heart. But if we would experience such a situation in reality, then it would leave an indelible scar.

If there was a technical glitch and school management was aware about the faulty lift, and didn’t get it repaired then it becomes a matter of concern. 

I hope police would do the investigation properly and school management would cooperate. If someone is guilty, then the culprit must be nabbed.
