On Thursday, the BJP member of parliament from Karnataka’s Bangalore South posted a video on his Twitter account. In the video, the MP, Tejasvi Surya, shows the smooth expressway of the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in the morning.
He captioned the video as Yogi Ji’s expressway. He wrote, “Lucknow to Kannauj in Yogi Ji’s #ExpresswayPradesh #UPYogiHaiYogi.”
In response, the former CM of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav, re-twitted the MP’s tweet and wrote, “We made it.”
“One had heard of darkness under a lamp. Looking at the ignorance of BJP leaders, I can say that ‘Surya’ means darkness under the sun. The Agra-Lucknow expressway that (Tejasvi Surya) is praising to the skies, he should know, that was made by us, not ‘unUPYogi (useless) Ji.’
The Agra-Lucknow Expressway, the 302 km long roadway, was inaugurated by the National President of Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, in 2016. The roadway opened to the public in February 2017.
The BJP MP, Tejasvi Surya, is campaigning for the BJP in the assembly election of Uttar Pradesh for a second term in power.
The MP again twitted with a comparison of Highway length before 2017 and after. He wrote on Twitter that instead of the former CM trying to be poetic, he should have made more expressway for the people of UP. The people of UP now know who was unUPYogi (useless) between 2012 and 2017. They have decided to send the Samajwadi Party home on the same expressway.
Akhilesh Jadav often accuses the ruling party of snatching credits done by his government. The SP leader lost the position of the Chief Minister to Yogi Adityanath in the 2017 UP assembly election.
He is now contesting from the Mainpuri’s Karhal seat in the UP assembly election for the first time.
Supporters of the two parties also joined the sparring.
Sharvendra Bikram Singh, a spokesperson of the Samajwadi Party, also criticized Tejasvi Surya for his tweet. He twitted, you (Tejasvi Surya) do realize Singh hopes that this expressway is the Agra – Lucknow Expressway, and it was made by the Samajwadi Party govt when Akhilesh Yadav was the chief minister. He’s glad that Surya was enjoying the drive; good music, too, wonders who it’s by.
Rashtriya Lok Dal, which is an ally of the Samajwadi Party, tweeted, “BJP leader Tejasvi Surya Ji is claiming that the expressway ready during SP government was built by Yogi Ji. It is even more upsetting that young politicians are propagating lies. But he [Tejasvi Surya] will not admit his mistake.”
