The anticipation is higher than ever as the US Open prepares for its semi-finals. On one hand, the Czech trailblazer, Karolina Muchova, meets the American prodigy, Coco Gauff. On the other hand, the second seed, Aryna Sabalenka, will be greeted by Madison Keys.
Without any doubt, given the calibre of these professionals, it is going to be a tough competition. Amidst this, the 19-year-old will try to reach the finale of the game for the first time ever and extending her almost perfect season to a perfect one!
Gauff’s approach for her upcoming games
Coco Gauff has time and again shown the marvellous talent she possesses when given a racket in hand. This has even allowed the tennis player to add her name to the top players who will vie in the semi finals. However, as Gauff aims to secure a place in the last match of her home Grand Slam tournament, she appears to be confident regarding her game.Â
Along similar lines, the young professional expressed how her focus is on one game at a time. Earlier, while reaching the quarters, she would think that the end was near. However, this time, her focus is solely going to be on the tennis match of that day and not the future games; because once it is over, it is over.
Experience from Coco Gauff’s previous victories
Coming into the US Open, the young Gauff had enjoyed some of the best finishes of her career. These included her title wins in Washington and Cincinnati. In fact, from her last year’s performance at Flushing Meadows, Gauff has been able to capitalise better.
This has been especially true when it comes to her matches in front of the American crowd. Even the tennis star seemed to think along similar lines. Crediting her performance from Washington DC, Gauff said,
“I think what’s doing well in those tournaments builts my mental endurance.”

Gauff’s coach also vouched for the American star’s improved game
While Coco Gauff has been working on her momentum, the US Open has evidently shown the results of the same. This dominance of the tennis prodigy was also felt by her coach, Jarmere Jenkins, who felt that Coco Gauff had been in a confident and clear mind recently. This has given her space to understand her on-court moves.
Additionally, the coach divulged how earlier it felt like the young star went out and hoped to play her best. However, now, she is going with an outlook, ‘I have got this if I play well or even if I don’t,’ and that has been her key element. Further, the coach revealed:
“She doesn’t always have to play great to win a match, a lot of matches she has won not playing her best tennis – but the best is going to come.”

Apart from Coco Gauff, Sabalenka has also made a powerful statement
The 25-year-old has evolved from her tough exits in numerous games. With only 1 major win against her name at the Australian Open, Aryna Sabalenka, this time will aim for her first final US Open appearance. This will additionally be the tennis player’s third semi-finale appearance. While her season has been exceptional, Sabalenka has faced her fair share of disappointments.
The latest one happened at this year’s French Open, where she was defeated by the Czech star, Muchova. Following this, another defeat kissed her feet when she faced Ons Jabeur in the Wimbledon semi-finals. Interestingly, the current semi-final appearance will make Sabalenka the first women’s player since Serena Williams to make it to the semis in all four majors in the same season.
