On May 3rd, Tuesday, the Khelo India came to an end and the Jain University took over the overall championship.Â
The Khelo India University Games will commence on April 24, 2022. The games were scheduled to be held in 2021, but due to the corona pandemic, the games were postponed to 2022. The Jain University, Bangalore, hosted the Khelo India Games.Â
Jain University’s victoryÂ
The swimmer from Bangalore, Siva Sridhar, secured seven gold medals and two silver medals. He became the most completed athlete of the event.
The Bangalore team secured twenty gold, seven silver and five bronze medals, making them the overall champions of the event.Â
Runners and third-rankers on the tableÂ
While the Jain Uni held the first place, the second spot was taken by the Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab.
They won 17 gold, 15 silver and 19 bronze. Even though they earned more silver and bronze, the Jain Uni took over them by securing 20 gold in their hands.
The Panjab University, Chandigarh, finished the events in the third spot. They won 15 gold, not so far away from the runners. They scored nine silver and twenty-four bronze.Â
New recordsÂ
Siva Sridhar, the hero of the event, along with M.T. Ann Mariya, set two new national records. The first marked a new goal in the men’s 200m individual medley.
The latter broke the record in 87kg weightlifting, women’s category. The most successful female athlete title was taken by Shrungi Bandekar, a swimmer, by gaining four gold and one silver medal.Â
The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah and other politicians were invited as guests for the closing ceremony of the Khelo India University Games (KIUG).
The game event lasted for 10 days, which contributed some brilliant players for the future of Indian sports.
The trophies were given by the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah for the winners, runners and the third-place holders.Â

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, ensured, when India celebrates its 100th Independence Day in the year, 2047, India would become one of the top 5 countries in Olympics. He shared his high hopes for Indian sports.Â
Furthermore, the Khelo India Youth Games is expected to start in June, 2022.Â
