Film review of The Legend: The only thing that stands out for The Legend film has Harris Jayaraj’s songs and background results, but they just aren’t sufficient to save this cringe-fest.
The amazing side of The Legend film is the absolute lack of self-awareness of the filmmaker JD-Jerry, who is behind some of the understated films like Whistle and Ullasam.
Upon sitting down to plan a star vehicle for well-known entrepreneur Saravanan Arul, for some reason, the two were convinced that they were on to something big.Â
However, the filmmaker duo JD Jerry has been only aiding a usual star who has lost a destiny on his ego trip.
Even prior to its release, there was a basic concord about the film The Legend being recorded under the “so-bad-it’s-good tag”.Â
The Legend movie has lived up to the supposition and in no way distorts the preconceived notions about the film. Having said that, someone has to accept that the movie is fortuitously entertaining.Â
The last time I saw viewers having so much fun in theatres, I was in Siva Karthikeyan’s Doctor. Though the comedy was deliberate, here people laugh at the film, not with it.Â
They want us to get goosebumps when the caked-up hero breaks into a speech about his enthusiasm for his people and the country.Â
It wants us to shed tears over his loss, and we make fun of him whenever he beats up henchmen. However, laughing seems to be the usual reply to this bloated vehicle lasting about 160 min.

The Legend film trailer bore some similarities to Rajinikanth’s 2007 movie Sivaji the boss.Â
Like S. Shankar’s blockbuster movie Shivaji: the boss, The Legend also features an overrated protagonist, Saravanan (Saravanan Arul), who came back to his hometown to help needy village people.Â
Actor Saravanan is a famous scientist who made a remarkable breakthrough in the antibiotics field, which finished the business of many big-capitalist pharma companies.Â
He has many enemies who want his blood. Now, he wants to know a constant cure for diabetes. But Suman (VJ) doesn’t like this one bit as he makes a living by selling injections, ensuring that Saravanan now has a stab on his back.
Amidst all this, the film The Legend also sells us romance. So, when Saravanan isn’t learning life lessons and kicking people three times his body weight, he is wooing Tulsi (Geetika Tiwari), a lecturer whose father is his family friend.Â
Things escalate quickly and the two soon get married. Perhaps, that’s the only thing driving the script of The Legend film, which otherwise remains as still as Saravanan’s face.
Talking about the faces, The Legend has some capable actors like Nasir, Thambi Ramaiah, and Vija Kumar.Â
Unfortunately, everyone turns into a laughing stock while uttering some redundant lines.Â
Harris Jayaraj’s songs and background score and R Velaraj’s camerawork are the only real effort that has gone into this old and formulaic film.
Know more about The Legend
The starting issue of The Legend film is that it is not a movie but a set piece to push Saravanan into the limelight and stardom.Â
Even the well-thought-out story of fighting the medical mafia to serve the hero is taken advantage of.Â
All the scenes are carefully crafted to elevate the protagonist, and it’s sad and excruciating to see these famous actors limited to supporting templates with only one purpose – to publicize the protagonist.Â
Jerry and JD have made much better ad movies, and the film The Legend ends up as a complicated and big-budget addition to their firm. The Legend film plans to sell Saravanan Arul as an actor.
