La Liga giants Real Madrid CF is the home for many world-class football players. The galacticos policy of Real is popular among football fans.
Madrid’s president Florentio Perez started the policy by bringing top-class players from all the top leagues for world record deals.
The signings of Ronaldo, Figo, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Benzema, James Rodriguez, Eden Hazard, Gareth Bale all fall under this.
The club went on breaking transfer fee records to bring in top talents. The departures of superstars like Cristiano, Ramos, and James made Madrid fans raise their voices to bring in world-class talents, and French icon Kylian Mbappe’s name was the one that was popular among the fans.
The 22-year-old striker is one of the hot properties in world football today. He first made headlines with his arrival to PSG from As Monaco in 2017, and PSG reportedly paid Monaco around 166M pounds to bring in the player.
Since then, the French international has scored 136 goals and provided 66 assists from 182 games.
During the summer transfer window of this campaign, there were strong rumors that Real Madrid was going to sign the player.
The rumors were confirmed when Real Madrid officially bid for him around the region of 200M euros.
It was a considerable sum for a player on his last year of the contract, but given his talent, it was justified. However, the deal didn’t happen as PSG rejected any kind of negotiations for the player.
Trouble in Paradise loading? Mbappe to cross PSG Board?
PSG’s sporting director Leonardo in an interview given in August has said that the player informed the club in the last week and Real waited till the last week of the transfer market to put a bid for their player, which Mbappe denied in his latest interview, stating that he did informed the club earlier about his desire to leave and also to allow them to find a replacement for him during that window.
According to his interview, we can say that he was prepared to leave PSG last summer. His words, “I thought that my adventure [with PSG] was over. I wanted to discover something else.
I’d been in the French league six or seven years.”…. “Leaving was the logical next step.” This does support the ongoing interest of Real Madrid shown for the player.
But he was also careful with his words in order not to clash with the PSG board. He said that “I’ve been in football long enough now to know that yesterday’s truth is not necessarily today’s, nor tomorrows.
On his final year of contract at PSG, will the arrival of the likes of Leo Messi and Sergio Ramos persuade the player to extend his contract with the French heavyweights or has his mind already decided that his future lies somewhere away from the French capital.
It would be interesting to see what his plan of action in the coming winter session would be.
With his contract running down on 2022, he could start negotiating with any clubs from January.
To land such a massive football star, many top clubs will be at the forefront. However, Real Madrid has got a chance.
He has already stated that if he were indeed to leave PSG in the last window, it would have been only for Real Madrid. Will he be waiting for Madrid’s offer in the next window, or has he set his sight somewhere else?
Los Blancos the future club for the World Cup Winner?
French and Real Madrid legends such as Zinedine Zidane, former coach and player, Karim Benzema the leading goal scorer for the club in this season, have stated their admiration for the player and how they like Mbappe to play for Real Madrid one day.
So, the possibilities for a transfer cannot be discarded totally. If Mbappe is to join Madrid now he could be Real’s perfect replacement for their former superstar Cristiano.
Ex- Madrid player Varane recently stated that “He (Mbappe) knows what he wants”, whereas Madrid superstar Toni Kroos talked about his disappointment over the failed negotiations for Mbappe.
Florentio Perez has always admired the player and his abilities and did not rule out a potential transfer for him in the future.
Even last day, he talked about the possibility of Mbappe joining Real Madrid, much to the angry of PSG’s sporting director. After which Perez came forward insisting his words were misinterpreted.
With the arrival of one of the greatest players of all time, Messi, it is almost impossible for Mbappe to be considered as the number one in the squad.
One of the greatest shocks was Messi leaving Barcelona and joining PSG earlier this year. With a player of his quality and the likes of Neymar Jr, Sergio Ramos, Marco Veratti Mbappe possibly won’t be the poster boy for PSG.
After competing for about 6 to 7 years in the French league, if he finally decides to look out for other options, there are a handful of top clubs who would be delighted to land him.
Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Barcelona are all looking to land him.
