Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, said that he spoke to Elon Musk on Saturday via video conference, where the Tesla and SpaceX CEO promised to send more Starlink systems to Ukraine amid the ongoing invasion. Â
Through a tweet, Zelensky expressed his gratitude towards Elon Musk, through which he said,
“Talked to @elonmusk. I’m grateful to him for supporting Ukraine with words and deeds. Next week, we will receive another batch of Starlink systems for destroyed cities. Discussed possible space projects. But I’ll talk about this after the war.”Â
Â
According to reports, the country is said to receive more systems to connect to the Starlink satellite internet constellation, by next week. The Starlink systems were activated in Ukraine last week when Mykhalio Fedoro, the Vice President, requested the systems in an open letter to Elon Musk. Â
The President also posted a video of himself on Instagram in which he is seen inviting the world’s richest man to Ukraine after the war is over: Â
Â
In the Instagram video, Zelensky invited Musk to visit Ukraine, saying:
“After the war, you’re very welcome.”
To which the entrepreneur responded by saying that the idea “sounds good.” Â
Musk has also faced repeated calls for Starlink, operated by SpaceX, to block the Russian media, but the CEO downright rejected them by tweeting,
“We will not do so unless at gunpoint. Sorry to be a free speech absolutist. “
