The nation award-winning filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia feels that the OTT platform has given them the liberty to express their stories in a better form, without getting much bothered by the release date and anything. The OTT has provided the filmmakers like Tigmanshu with the creative freedom to showcase the multitude of perspectives in a more refined format.
He expressed his thoughts about mainstream cinema. He believes that “only the big films will work” in the theatres. Tigmanshu stated that the OTT has become the game-changer platform for them and expressed his sheer joy in this phase. Tigmanshu enjoys the unbothered feeling about not working with big stars and yet releasing hits. He believes that this medium has led the filmmakers to focus on quality instead of foreign factors. As each coin has two faces, Dhulia believes that only content would matter on the OTT. Soon, only good shows that have good quality content will have a scope on this platform since the content is abundant here.
Nevertheless, Tigmanshu says that the best about making shows and films for the OTT platforms is that the filmmaker is able to enjoy the process of making them. The very reason because of which people like him ventured into this arena can be enjoyed till the very last. The Haasil and Paan Singh Tomar director expressed his enjoyment since, unlike the Television shows, the series need not have any master-shot or close-ups, so shooting a series gives the same feel as shooting a film, and this is one of the best things offered by such platforms, according to him.
Currently, the co-director of Out of Love and Criminal Justice is wrapping another series- Garmi, which is about student politics. Due to this, Tigmanshu has introduced a lot of new faces since the plot revolves around the youth. The expected release date has not been finalized but should be released by the end of the year.
