The Trinamool Congress made a square one in the civic polls on Monday. It happens to four municipal corporations in West Bengal: Chandernagore, Asansol, Bidhannagar and Siliguri. Mentioned the data available on the State Election Commission’s website.Â
Mamata Banerjee, Bengal Chief Minister, cheered the people by saying: “The election was held peacefully.” She also said that “there was no trouble anywhere in the time of polling.” she also thanked the State Election Commission and administration for playing important roles to ensure people go for their voting rights.Â
Whereas, on Monday, Bhartiya Janta Party [BJP] moved to Calcutta High Court. It is for demanding Central forces for the remaining Municipalities Polls scheduled for 27th of February in West Bengal. Tuesday, the matter will be likely be heard by the court.Â
Even though largely peaceful, sporadic incidents of violence have appeared. The TMC had captured Asansol, Chandannagar, and Biddhannagar civic bodies during the Left-Congress alliance, the Siliguri civic body. Looking into the 2015 elections when these four civic boards were last held. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the polling couldn’t be held in time.Â
