Top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Yousuf Kantroo was killed by security forces in an encounter on Thursday morning in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, even into Friday morning the encounter is still Underway.Â
Ahead of PM Modi’s visit of the Valley, Security Force’s have began to crackdown on militancy. Security has been tightened and around the clock patrolling is being carried out by security forces.Â
 Upon receiving verified intelligence from Jammu and Kashmir police department, security personnel began their Anti terrorism mission with very high focus of terminating Yousuf Kantroo, the commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist organization.Â
 Major success Â
Yousuf Kantroo was one of the longest living militant leaders in the valley, there were multiple charges of terrorism and murder of security personnel on him.Â
Starting as a Hizbul Mohammad recruit he was trained in the doctrine of terror, his whole life was spent in the middle of conflict between Military and Terrorist Organizations. He joined Lashkar-e-Taiba in 2017. Among the charges on Yousuf Kantroo the most notably were the murders of special police officers Mohammad Ishfaq Dar and his brother Umed Ahmad Dar in March.Â
He was also involved in the killing of many civilians, political leaders, abduction and killing of army and security personnel as well as grenade throwing incidents.Â
The anti-terrorism operation carried out by security forces has been able to put an end to Yousuf Kantroo for good. Â
As the presence of militants is still being confirmed, security forces are now tightening the cordon as the encounter is still underway.Â
Inspector General of Kashmir police, Vijay Kumar has congratulated the force’s on their successful anti-terrorism mission. Â
ConclusionÂ
In addition to the militant death count on Thursday, another terrorist was gunned down by security forces near Baramulla district, thereby raising the number of terrorists killed so far to four.Â
With the death of Yousuf Kantroo ends a long reign of terror that has held the valley hostage for so long. A few more terrorist’s are rumored to be caught up in the security cordon.Â
The encounter is still underway, as exchange of gunfire between militants and Security Force’s is still being carried out.Â
Ahead of PM Modi’s visit, security personnel are trying to step up their efforts to curb militancy in J&K.Â
